If you have a gigablue quad do not I repeat do not update your bootloader to the latest if you install it and dependant what image you are using it will get stuck in reboot or give false temperature readings causing your box to re-boot although it is not overheating a fan does help by lowering the temperature a few degrees as your box thinks its at 100 degrees (example) even when its not the fan just keeps it below that stopping it from re-booting.

Don't destroy your box as some people have done cutting great holes in the top to fit a large fan as this is not permanent gigablue are working on a solution just remove the cover and place a fan blowing on it unless you wish to invalidate your warranty I have two years on mine I don't know if this is standard.

hope this helps.

I have got my box running fine now the problem started when the new bootloader was installed so its probably the base kernel moduel (bootloader) my box will only run flawlesly on open ATV 4.1 image i have tried other images the box has real problems running the vix image 30 onwards. I have come to the conclusion they run better on ATV image because the kernel moduels and interface is more compatible with the bootloader. may be wrong but thats my conclusion.

I rolled back my boot loader to the original 2012 boot loader seems to have taken as can run other images fine apart from vix images above image 26 not sure if its taken the roll back as cant find how to get information of my box to tell me which one I have installed any one know as cannot see it in image information kernel is blank!!!!

Giigablue is releasing the new boot loader and new drivers in approximately two weeks they have said.

This I understand only applies to the Gigablue HD.
It does not apply to the HD Plus ?

Only Gigablue Quad as far as I am aware.

A few more posts on WoS seem to be showing this to be a memory leak associated with the new boot loader and drivers, users so far have setup the cache flush plugin and have had no further issues. So once again it's in GB's hands to sort their shit out.

Also just to report we (ViX) have just received a bootloader to test from GB that may hopefully fix these issues (fingers crossed).

I dont have the Quad but apparently the Quad Plus which i do have was unaffected i flashed the latest Quad Plus Bootloader dated 2014/07/24 and then installed OpenATV 4.2 and so far for well over a couple of weeks the box is running smooth it also now reports SYS Temp 10? less than what they where. OpenATV confirmed that the new drivers from Gigablue are included in the latest image

that's a much preferred image for me but only used open atv 4.1 as 4.2 would not work for me with the old boot loader hopefully now it will. there are no temp on the vix image that I can see.
will be changing back to atv in the morning.
