Edit 2: 78L05... thats a 5V regulator...

That pic has 2K of memory in it, could be in there,

The top 2 pins on the Pic Microcontroller are for an I2C/SPI type eeprom, and looks like they go to the empty footprint, so either someone has pinched your eeprom and it shouldn't work, or they are likely to be using the 2K of memory inside the micro,

its electronic there is no eep..

Tere is no eeprom the hours are on a mechanical display underneath the rev counter
