thank you guys, i have opened the unit and tried to see if i can see anything, with the help of a voltmeter, but so far nothing. when i connect to the laptop the USB cable, only the red light is on solid the yellow LED is dead, like my hopes and dreams. and now the error is coming up saying check the USB cable.

Xhorse (VVDI) can only be repaired in China. Maartinj (Europe office) does not repair them.
If battery is the problem, usually they don't ask for payment (but it may depend on your seller).
The other important thing is you need to return it the reverse way it came to you.
For example if you bought it from UOBD2 you need to return it to them and they will bring it to Xhorse for repair.

is this product dead already? updates were slowing down for a long time and no updates now at all and a new product has been released. so, usual stuff from Xhorse they ditch one tool and release another one. typical "made in china" marketing. I probably can call myself lucky as I bought only this tool from them (VVDI Prog) otherwise waisted money.

I’m tired of all the whining from the children. It’s a $500 tool that has made me 10’s of thousands of dollars. After my first battery failure I sent mine off and bought another. I now have a spare for next time. If this is the only tool you can afford then go into another business because you clearly aren’t charging enough.

EDC17C50 in there is F series ECU. EDC17CP02 is E series ECU and is completely different ECU from EDC17C50 or any other in that list!!!

I know I can add it to exeption list on my antivirus, but my question was why I should worry about it? Just because Xhorse can't sort this out for ages? And don't really feel safe when genuine software needs to be added as exception to my windows defender to be honest

What power supply You are using for VVDI Prog? I have experienced a lot of problems with VVDI Prog not able to read/crack some chips is the power delivery. VVDI Prog doesn't like voltage under 12V and over 12.5V. At least mine doesn't. Usually when something is not reading I change voltage up or down and reading/cracking issues goes away.

I've done plenty of RFA-SECURED (XET256) with no solder adapter using mini prog and vvdi prog without power supply.

That is the thing with adapters. It needs some extra juice for stability.

ok got this working with help from xhorse support, had to reduce VPP to 3.3V, no power supply needed for vvdi prog.

Use a poweradapter, it will be more stable.
A single bad byte in your flash or eeprom, cost lots of time to figure out and fix.

13-14v 2-4a. There are cheap.
Andshorter 0,5mtr usb cable, cannot hurt either.
Lesser maneuver space, is the only downside.

Do you have a second V3 cable? They are to cheap, not to have spares.

Lower voltage, 4.5 to 4.1 and check id again. The safety warnings, dont worry about these.

RH850 no connection
CAS2 no connection, read with r270 no problem
95640 eeprom fails to read, read with upa no problem
only ok so far 24c02

Not just you, it is true that it fails on some.
Often a different setting will make the difference.
It is not like Upa.

Cas2 should not be a problem, you should atleast to be able read the id.
Looks like there are some issues with your device.

Instead of solving your programmer issues, you list other fails.

This will not help you sort this.

it's not grey, CLK is white cable in group 2. check MCU wiring in VVDI PROG. they just couldn't show white cable on white background

Reading original data from OEM rear SAM unit (Mercedes W463 no mods done. Part Number A4635450101) in circuit fails at 99% and a temporary bin file is saved by VVDI in tmp folder. Upon inspection of temporary bin I can see that data is being read partially. It seems that incorrect memory maps are used by VVDI as bin data seems to be shifted comparing to other bin files from similar units where reading was done with xProg. Unfortunately I own only VVDI so I can't read the unit with xProg myself.

As well VVDI is showing incorrect memory maps in their software when you select the MCU in question.

I have 2 faulty VVDI-prog and have ordered a 3rd.
The first one lasted about 5 years before it would no longer read secured processors but still read eeprom.
The second one lasted about 2 years before the same thing happened.
It's not the cable, tested new ones.

Checked the boards, the batteries are still ok.

Can't remember where I bought them from as I change suppliers a lot.

Firstly, anybody else had them die so often?
Secondly, can they be sent directly back to Xhorse for repair?

I want to warn you about working with MB96F6A6RB (Grizli 700 2018), I read it without problems UP_FLASH, LOWER_FLASH, SAS(I did it several times), to change the km and hours I erased the chip and refilled it (UP_FLASH, NEW LOWER_FLASH, SAS)
I turned on the instrument panel on the table and after booting, the screen was black. IProg+ came to the rescue (I made a backup first along with VVDI prog)

Same issues with my VVDIPROG. I have VVDIPROG from about year and I connected many CAS modules with no problem, but from some time have problem to connect secured motorola MCUs. I have some modules previously connected OK, but now : no connection or "Chip crack failure".
Tried with 0L15Y, 2K79X, 5M46H. Sometime when play with VCC adjust to 3,4 to 3,7 V I am able to connect to secured 9s12.
I tried with software versions 5.3.2 and 5.3.3

All time by mistake I am trying to connect using "MCU reflash" cable instead of "MC9S12 Reflash Cable"
With correct cable everything works just fine!

I think he wants to know how to properly replace the battery
- whether when the voltage is connected to the programmer 12v,
- whether USB is connected,
- or simply replace the batteries without any external 3_volt connections

I plan to replace the battery.
For this:
- solder a socket from an old PC motherboard for the CR2032 battery and solder it to the battery contacts CR2354 on the VVDI board(where CR2354 soldering will not be performed)
- insert a new CR2032 battery into the socket (parallel with CR2354)
- solder out the old CR2354 and solder in the new CR2354 (at the same time, the CR2032 will hold 3V for the VVDI board)
- remove CR2032 and unsolder its socket

Using external power supply is way more easier. If you are that scared add USB cable power as well. That additional battery socket could make it more problematic..

Returning to the topic of the infineon XC2361A 72.
I decided to check.
Is the MCU Reflesh V3 cable that I have really V3.
After disassembly, you can see that it looks like V2, only a different color of the board.
And these two resistors are installed where they should not be in the V3 version.
Can someone more experienced comment on whether my cable needs to be modified?

I wrote about replacing the battery a dozen or so topics ago.
In my case, I powered it via USB.
You have to do it carefully so as not to short circuit it and make sure that the programmer is not deprived of power.
I would suggest using an external power supply.
Because the computer's USB will turn off the voltage when it is overloaded.

Hi yes, issue was in both the 9S12 cables - the wires (purple, yellow and green) were brittle so it was passing continuity test but couldn't be loaded, replaced with slightly thicker wires and now working okay.

If you do wrong wiring to the mcu with vvdi prog ..does the vvdi prog disconnecting usb and then reconnecting then tell you check wiring or 12v?
