Hello members:

I have a Mini Cooper 2003 R50, I replaced the "center instrument cluster" because the original was broken.

The second-hand cluster works fine, but the LCD display on the "small tachometer" does NOT work. Tacho?s needle works, but LCD doesn?t.

BMW part number, Hardware index, software index, bus index, can index, diagnostic index, coding index, AI level and modification index is the same on both Cluster (original and second had )

Do you know if I need to reprogramm the second-hand cluster or other module in the car ?

or any idea ?

Thanks

The cluster in a R50 contains the FA or ZCS which is a list of all the equipment options of the car. You need to recode the cluster to be sure that everything works properly.

If it was working before you replaced the center clock, there is definitely a mismatch. You need to recode the center instrument/clock but I would start with VASA's suggestion first. Try to manually change the VIN in that (second hand) center clock.

It was not working before replaced the center clock, I replace "center clock" because the LCD?s in both clocks were blank.

Manually change VIN means to read mcu processor with programmer and change in dump ??

Is it possible to change VIN by diagnostic tool ??

manually change VIN could be via processor and change in dump or via diagnostic tool.
and most probably yes you can via OBD... depend on what tool you have.
