View Full Version : Zgemma H2 . . tuner issues?

I've just got my Zgemma H2 today and for the price, it's an absolute steal! :chuncky:
The DVB-S2 side of things is running great, nice strong signals but the DVB-C is giving me a little pain.
Every single Vermin channel comes in at 29% SNR and 9% AGC, this is mostly fine except that every few minutes my screen will freeze for about 10 seconds.
I'm pretty sure it's not related to the gift as FTA channels do exactly the same. I'm also sure I read about other people having this exact same issue with the exact same signal levels but I can't seem to find it now.

[UPDATE]
I found a little switch on the rear of the box that appears to supply power to the antenna (?) When I turn it on the random glitching stops on the channels I watch the most but they still remain on more obscure channels like Sky Arts.
ATM, Sky Arts is practically unwatchable.

The little switch on the back is for adding extra power to weaker DVB-T/T2 signals and Not cable, the only way to cure the cable side is either try a Konig yellow brick booster or the opposite you may have too much signal and need to attenuate it.
Both can cause pixellation

Had same issue with a h2h other day , did service scan picked up all listed available channels but when come to viewing anything signal only 29% (seems a common figure) with about 7 channels to view .. seems risky buying one as will not know until its set up and tried it out.

I would be inclined to say don't worry what the numbers say on zgemma cable channel especially if using openatv as long as your picture and sound are fine ignore the numbers. E.g my quad+ & et8000 both show 87% on itv where my h2 shows 29% all three boxes are as stable as each other with no picture issues and have had these differences in snr for ever. Btw it doesn't matter which house i connect the h2 in I get the same 29%. I've been running my h2 around a year on those numbers

Could it of been a net i.d issue ? service scan scanned few hundered , and so did the autobouqet scan ... but when come out was only a few available to view just presumed it was tuner problem with it being so low on the signal page

I find the tuner on the H.2H to be pretty good. I have a dodgy cable signal and the higher frequencies are on the verge of pixelization on every box that I try, the H.2H is no worse than any other.

No by the sounds of things you are only receiving free to air (there are only a few on cable, unlike sat where there are quite a lot of free channels). We cannot help much further than that though.

There is also a H5 now which looks exactly the same as the H.2H, maybe it has different manufacturers tuners

Noticed in this video most channels on 29% maybe i did set it up wrong , but i did only get a handful if that, so not sure wether to take chance and get another and try again , By the way does anyone know what the skin is on the video .. Not seen the way u can access all the categories along the top like that before in tv guide (2min 50s) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dp-BF1NL5M

Hi yeh , might get the same one back anyways would of preferred a opetatv rather than the vix and a vmskin it came with, i did try the H series open atv/SLYK image noticed the epg didnt download though , still never got many channels on that either not that a Skin would make much difference .. going to have a think about it more , but yes that skin in the video does look exactly the same as the slyk , just with that other bit added on , nice little addition to , which i would not mind putting on my Z.s

That's most probably down to the plugin you used for the EPG, I use Crossepg for my satellite Zgemma, but that doesn't fetch the data for cable channels, for cable channel EPG you have to install another plugin called epgrefresh and set it for cable and to scan about 15 mins after crossepg.
still never got many channels on that either not that a Skin would make much difference
Nope a skin wouldn't cause that, either it's a cable setting in your Tuner B config menu or a cable setting in bouquets plugin. If however, you've got all the free to air channels working and it's the premium channels not clearing then you've set up the cable tuner and bouquets plugin correctly.

If you have a recent version of ABM, then look for Horizon IE. They have only just got Ireland working, it's still not 100% though.

on vix image it was only put into the latest version of image, when setting up main scan you need qams 16,64,and 256 enabled and dublin uses 6887
zgemma normally on older images are they not with patched vix image?

Please refrain from linking to a video that shows how to install CAMs within it's timeline, you are here long enough so I shouldn't have to link you to our rules page.
