How to change serial in softwear I belive that nobody will tell you.
All updates are not for free from what I know.

Do you lnow someone such as nuts to give you for free updates for your S/n?

User and password you need to creat by yourself on factory web site if it is genuine like they said. If it is have S/N for China, even you can to make an user and password you'll canot download because you need an Chinese IP. If S/N if for other region you don't need this

You know if you share your S/N, this one can be see by the Launch company and maybe will be banned and you'll never can get updates directlly downloaded from their web site.
Other reason it is that even you'll share the updates that once will be unusefull becasue you need to have the S/N.
And the lasrt reason is that updates means money so if you don't pay you'll haven't updates.
Maybe there's other reasons but this ones I have it in my mind

It's not connected with your smartbox or it show you "Contact your Delear"?
If it's say " Contact your Dealer" in this case your softwear S/N it is not for your smartbox S/N
But if you cannot connect with you smartbox this is an hardwear issue not a softwear one.

If you talking with me I can say I don't need beacause I can change the S/N for any kinds of Launch machines.
I have updates but the problems is that if that once have no bugs.
Because you can have the updates but sometimes if it has bugs you cannot have a good softwear and you cannot connect to the car or truck you want.
This it ahppend to me but as I said I can have all the updates I want so it is not such hard to change the softwear versions for me
For others who need to pay for this it is a really bad thing but you know when you buy a clone tool you know what you're doing

the best way is to copy all contents of flash card to your computer and then try to install what u need. if something go wrong u delete all from the card and copy those files from your comp.

You cannot
The S/N it is in LPC2368 not into the LPC9107 but the chip it is protected.
So don't bother with this.
You can buy a chip already flashed from China or send the smartbox to one who can do it for you.

It depends on the tools you have.
There is software for changing serial and some people can do it.
The harder way is to solder new chip.
The hardest could be getting and modifying a dump (impossible?).

But you are right, atm it's not easy, since the software is not freely available.

Mate to change the S/N you need softwear can do this whitout screw the interface.
If you wanna reflash the LPC2368 you need a dump for it, otherwise you cannot change the S/N becasue that chip it is writh protected.

Try to erased all stuff from your TF card and format it
The copy all your softwear ( backup files ) back to your TF card

hello people, I was thinking about buying the machine x-431, and informed me of another similar, the Autoboss v30, say this is too good ... I would like to know your opinion... I would prefer x-431launch cz its aint complicated and has more options

autoboss has more simple menu (for me but some might like lauch menu more), easier to update (I can update all genuine autoboss and pc-max clone as well) has better vw group, bmw... also is quicker than diagun/x431. I have autoboss pc-max, x431 diagun and x431(grey one).
lunch is better with fiat/alfa/lancia, ford, volvo but launch can make some CAN faults when connected to renault, citroen, peugeot, opel/vauxhal.(once all dash went off and could not do anything but disconnect the battery for a day to make it work back on and I was only diagnosing the engine)
last time i had to use x431 to program something with astra H 1.9 (dth) as autoboss did not have this function with this model but after programing I had to erase all dtc with autoboss as launch made some CAN dtc and left traction control inop.
both are good but it all depends what you will do with it.
the best option is to buy both but not every one can aford it.
I prefer to use autoboss and in thge most cases I do use autoboss only butg then very rare have to use launch.
especialy pc-max because it is conected to laptop.
big screen can be easly reed etc.
as i use laptop for diagnosis I have reference to autodata/vivid or forums in no time.
I hope I help you a little bit

Maybe he changed the smartobox becasue he need to have the new functions aviable.
If you do not upgrade your Super Scanner smartbox hardwear the one you have it is very old and even you have the lastes newest updates you'll not be able to use the last functions.
I suppose that's why he has GX3 S/N. But who knows
@aksimo - you must be sure what it is your real S/N ( look in the printer paper ) and then you have to find someone to help you. The updates for Launch aren't for free. Few S/N you can find but others it is very hard.

I have Diagun and it is very good but I have updates whenever I want.
This let me to choose the versions of softwears when I figure it out the one versions has bugs
I haven't other kind of multibrand tools and I cannot say anything about item.
I worked with Texxa and KTS and in most of the cases Diagun it was the best.

if u don't need preobd2 adapters it is worth to have look at the VCS as it is clone autoboss pc-max in different box and without all preobd2 adapters. and even if you need some u can buy them from china cheap.
updates ... well as i set before: I can update clone pc-max (and vcs) with the most current version on autoboss server.

vcs cost about 160-200 pounds. so it is not to expensive.

Dear Aksimo,

Your "Master" work like X-431 Standard. When you download program with Master you don't need wait downloading. With your unit you wait downloading.
1. Checking Smartbox
2. Reseting Smartbox
3. Download program (on Master you don't have this)
For full connection with car you will need Super16 connector because you don't have Master (just looking like Master). If you buy New Update you will need + Super16 connector and your X-431 will be full.
I thinks that you will find Best solution here on

I think it's better to use below 2gb size card,and second,check if the folder's name in the card is "GAG",if the folder's name was not that it will also happen the problem you encountered

Forget about this.
You need to change the smartbox first if you wnat to have full coverage for new softwears updates.
You need the motherboard or entire smartbox with one from GX3 or Master

I said that if you have an old type of Launch Scanner you need to change the smartbox motherboard or entire smartbox to be able in the futhure to use all the functions in softwears.
i didn't said that you cannot upgrade it.
You can get upgrades for your any S/N. Thios is not a problem but you'll have new softwears but you cannot use all the functions.
So in the case you have this kind of tool ( the old one ) it is better to spend money to change the smartbox or motherboard of the smartbox ( in this case you have another serial - a GX3 or Master serial ) and now you can spend money for new upgrades because you're able to use the new functions in softwears.
In other case if you just upgrade your softwears in your old tool it is a waist of money.

Work with all system.Super 16=100-160$.

Need your help here, considering purchasing a launch scan tool from China but I am undecided on which 1 to buy because there are so many variations for this tool to choose from:

Automotive Launch X431 Master
Launch X431 GX3 Master
Launch X431 Solo,

just to name but a few MY Questions are:

Which is the best tool here with the most vehicle coverage and Functions?

Which tool is the most durable?

Do these all come with a working voltage of 12V and 24V standard?

What are the differences if any between most of these tools because they all look the same on the pictures provided with the exception of the Launch X431 Diagun.

And are these clones able to be updated without rendering them useless?

The softwear are identical just diffrent OE systems ( Diagun and Solo - Windows Mobile and the GX3, Master, Old Scanners - Lynux )
There are no difference between them. Same functions.
BUt as I know the Old Scanner smartbox hardwear, even you use Super 16 is not compatible with new functions.
So I wanted to say that from what I know if you want to have a compatible hardwear with new functions in softwear you really need to change at least the motherboard of your old Scanner.
The softwear for Old Scanner and for GX3 or Master are the same.
And from what i know if you choose a GX3 motherboard you'll need to use a Super 16 and if you choose to use a Master motherboard you don't need to use the Super16.

That guy Tommy it is my supplier and also my very good friend.
If I remember well he told me before that the new Master don't need Super 16
Well if it is so I know that he watch this thread and he will tell me by email if it is so or not.
BTW he is the beste guy and the supplier in Launch tools bussines. ( This is not an advertising it is a metter of fact )
Well he can make give you an GX3 which you can works with updates for any S/N. ( any softwear for any S/N if you put in the TF card will work )

And I'm very happy that I did this choice.

yes,that's right,Super16 is only for X431 super scanner,x431 tool.For X431 master,diagun and GX3 will no need that.This function has already been built in smart box board.

According to Diagun and Solo, they look very similar, boty have WinCE but diagnostic software is totaly different and Solo offer only fauld reading/erasing and sensors checking.No programing,adaptation,basic setting...
Also soft is more bugy!
Here in Europe market is caled quicheck.

I have the same problem as peter...I have tried to c/P and Clone option to the 1GB micro SD and the result is the same..."Check the memory Card". I have tried formatting it to fat32, FAT, exFAT but nothing helped?

No, answer is no..I cannot see "storage Card".... But on a working micro SD card...i see it and everything works fine. Also when i connect it to pc with printer cable drivers are installed automatically (xp 32 bit) but what to do then....How to test Flash via usb cable?sorry but don't undertsand..

Thank you guys...Hope you think i have hardware problems with an sd card...because i have another sd card which works fine...but i would like to put it on another as a backup or whatever...but that one doesnt work a t all - formatted it using wondows and using other tools in fat (16) but nothing helped..Checked it with windows "error checking" and didnt find any errors...And dont have 3rd card(1 or 2 gb) to test it...

Yes the answer is simple, do not use a HC (High capacity) card and you can copy back and forth any of the files which the Diagun will see. Try to find a 1 to 2 Gb card non HC and it will work.

If you are able to change the S/N it is fair enough but if you just ressel others works this is not fair.

Problem is.....cant connect to any car and very slow.
I dont know history of this tool, bought very cheap,because no work.
So,when i try to read smartbox no.Start-gag-gdscan-box.info i see No.98024xxxxxxx(looks like old version x431).
But if i look for No. in: Start-Information-About-i see No.98064xxxxxxx....(looks like from new gx3).

You cannot connect to any car because it is not an OEM tool.
This is normal
And in some brands it work slowlly because the OEM tools work slowlly in that brand. Example: Ford
In Citroen and Peugeot it is fater then Diagbox

Lauch can do this job.
BTW I don't belive you can charge your Diagun DA using USB cable.

Take a look how to check the serial numeber in your machine or use the printer. You'll see thate serial numeber on the paper.
By the way this S/N it is not public so no one can help you.
Try to contact your seller or buy one time update from China but you need the real S/N not the one posted on your machine

I have a later software update from diagun with different serial number does anyone know how software can be manipulated to work on diagun with different serial number.
I dont really want to change serial inside my diagun in case it stuffs it up!
I just want to know if what I'm asking is possible!

Hi I have a problem with diagun my I bought in 2010 and the software was 09 after update today with the new update found in the forum everything ok after start the diagun show new 2012 software connect with smart box it start to update the box after succes the smart reset but it say now please contact launch dealer if I put original soft and a soft from 2010 it work ok no errors but soon I put the new soft 2012 I tried to update from different version but both the same can somebody tell me what is the problem I will like to make work thanks and have a good day ps (don't know if original or not )

Your problem it is that you use softwear updates for diffrent serial that yours.

Some are actually fake copy units
These are cheaper from the back street factory
Master is also copied/fake
These are the most problematic units around
Not so much the genuine launch factory units
