Hello to everyone.

I have a few question regarding crash data clearing

1. After clearing data, you just reinstall eeprom and airbag light works as it should? Or you need to clear airbag code with a scanner? O need to do something else?

2. Can I replace crash data for a cleread one if it's the same module part # (example Toyota Camry 89170-06200) and should work?

3. I use tachosoft and upa programmer for mile correction I got tachosoft airbag reseter, would I get carprog programmer or with these two (tacho and upa) I can reset most of the airbag modules (Toyota,Honda, ford, Chrysler, Mitsubishi,Hyundai,)
I read that for chevrolet I need carprog as you need obd connection .

I searched for any tutorial on airbag reseting on the forum but could find it. Any help or link would be a great help . Thanks

1. After erasing crash data you will still need a scan tool to erase codes from Occupant Control Module on all 2009 and up Ford's. Nearly all others will not need any additional clearing with scan tool. However, many Toyota Mitsubishi and Chrysler vehicles will need the Occupant Weight Sensor re-zeroed with scanner if passenger airbag(s) deployed.

2. Only in certain manufacturers you can get away with just loading a known clear file to module and not have any issues. Your example with the Toyota you can get by with it, as with Nissans you can also just program working file to module as long as part number is same. But generally this is not a good idea as most vehicles will not accept it as some store VIN, ID numbers, sensor configurations, etc...

3. CarProg is a great tool (original), it comes with thousands of 'calculators' to clear crash files. But it has zero support for Chrysler but 95% of Chrysler vehicles don't store crash codes anyway and for the ones that do you can still read the eeprom with carprog and clear manually. As for Chevy, carprog supports all with eeprom that will have hard crash codes (hard codes do not clear with scan tool) however, General Motors switched all vehicles to the plastic box models and now they just have soft crash code (soft codes will clear with just a scan tool) so all you need to clear crash for the newer 2012+ GM models is a scanner.
