hi everyone, have a mercedes benz 2003, e320, w211. EIS issue. when inserting key in, the ELV clicks but the key wont turn. when taking the key out the ELV clicks back. i have made a key and it does the same thing. what could be the problem and what is the solution for this problem. thnx in advance.

Seems it is faulty ELV ...take out and change motor

it opens the ELV, very strong. but the eis wont let the key to turn.

it is a strange problem...I have this type of fault many times...and was the key...if your original key is ok read by ir....and the dump from ezs is ok...then you have hardware problem in ezs....open and see inside...or copy your dump to donor ezs

i had an issue like this a year ago. i end up replacing the eis, elv. key set and prog the ME to start the car. it costed me $$$$$$$

Bad EIS. Verify by putting the key in and turning the steering wheel about 90 degrees.

Won't turn. If it is bad, what's the fix for this? I would like to repair the origin Eis. Is it soft or hardware issue. Thnx

How about cloning? For that, do I need Eis with key or just Eis? If just Eis, what do I need to read to save in donor? Thnx

yes you ust find same parts, have to open it for be certain, and copy flash and eprom from the Motorola mcu.
you just need ezs no Keys...

But you say there is a loud click coming from the ESL whenever you insert the key in the EIS? If the steering won't turn after that loud click, don't mess with the EIS. It's more than likely that the ESL has a mechanical failure. In which case, you'll have to remove and repair or replace it.

sorry I misunderstood. When the key is out, steering is locked. When it clicks to open? I have to check it. I will post it today the test

Ok. When inserting the key it clicks the, the elv, the steering releases. When taking the key out, it clicks, the elv, and steering blocks. Now is this component issue on the PCB or Mcu? If it is mcu and don't want to get used Eis and swap the defective mcu from one to another. Thnx
