Can someone post information on these box's, like how they work and are they easy to set up. All I know is that they are non-linux boxs but don't have more information on them then that. I am a noobie and trying to learn, before I splash out lots of money I don't have on something I may not want. if you get my drift.

There is a fiew of these kind of boxes out now..basically it has cccam and newcamd..and can be used to c/s just like a dm but without the linux....very easy to set up....some suppliers are offering them for sale already set up for c/s and are charging 30 quid extra for this so 190fully set up....also the dreamlink 500 can do exactly the same without the linux....

People will pay 30 quid & does this mean we will be charged 2 watch on all servers.Not saying now but this looks how its going.

Not sure which package comes with it for 30quid..but i suspect its the ~~~~ chanels....no big supplier is surely stupid enough to offer premium chanels??...then its just a case of either paying for a server,or looking for freebies on the net...there are plenty of sites offering freebies though!

it would be a good package if you had a 2mtr+ dish in the uk lol

for nilesat you need a big dish
but all the rest of the sats come in on an 80 or 1m
more than enough to watch

as for buying one
i wait untill someone other than darkman is selling

theres no need to point your dish there as all the channels they show or similar can be had with a smaller dish on other sats

Sid you would need broadband for sure as it needs to be constant. Believe the 83mbp powerplugs is more than adequate or if you hardwire from a router it will be fine.

Not worth it. The so called gift takes nothing longer than a minute to lose. Just get a technomate linux hd next week, similar price, open source And itself can be a server.

@ sid..i dont have one myself but std broadband is said to be ok 1meg....and with what i,v been reading very stable and freeze free..also they are adding canal nordic to the freebies,so a very impressive line up for less than 200quid...i,m thinking of trying one myself cos i,v lost the showtime package due to my inno server packing up...

Thanks iv quicker speed than that,if server ok.I have a azbox some freeze some dont.13 east on azbox is not to bad,16 east sinks on locking freezing most of the time.cheers on feed back.

Not worth it. The so called gift takes nothing longer than a minute to lose. Just get a technomate linux hd next week, similar price, open source And itself can be a server.

What you clear is under the control of one person, although you can change if needed i honestly think for a sat enthusiast like yourself there is nothing better than giving the TM or DM a go.

I suppose whats appealing about the spiderbox is that it comes with quite a fiew free packages,and then you can add to it if need be...wereas with a dm you either pay for a share or pester peeps for a c-line....i would buy a dm500 tomorrow if i knew where i could get sorted without paying for a freezing server...

Jackpot you are not comparing like with like though with the spiderbox and the tm 6900 or dreambox.

No argument about flexibility with the boxes the linux will hands down. In terms of support as well you are not relying on a supplier fix as they are open source. The spider though looks decent for what it does. You may not actually require a server if it was your only box and you had no reason to share.

The "gift" is meant to be 12 months and i guess in theory you could be let down by what is delivered as opposed to what is promised. Is this different from a payserver? I am sure i read a post from sid previously where he was having difficulty in getting a decent cline so at least this removes that problem.

The spiderbox is actually a very good spec box (dont personally have one but seen what it does) and plenty of others seem to be well pleased.

This also gives you a shoe in for some very good channels for very little in monetary terms. Personally think if you get the 12 months out of this you will have had very good vfm especially at the price from the link Fearona posted.

You pays your money and takes your chance.

The spiderbox is a good spec and most I have spoke to like it a lot. It's good value and a good introduction for new entries into that market. I try not to compare anything I don't own but feedback from others on another site seems to be very good.

just to clarify the cost of box is ?162,delivery is ?16 to the uk with the option of paying ?2 extra for recorded delivery which i took.As for being stung with taxes i'll let you know when it arrives,hopefully today

just to let those who are interested know,ordered box on tuesday and the box arrived today.all seems as it should and not stung for taxes so IMO a good deal.yep jackpot's right it could all go pears rather quicker than you may like but thats the gamble and i'm pretty sure there's a bit of potential with this once i've learn't a bit more.:beer:

I have technomates, I have a spiderbox. I'm getting another spiderbox and getting rid of the technomates. They are old style and I'm tired of all the patches they keep putting out with nothing new on them. look at the latest.. AU on 23.5E? Those keys haven't changed for over a year. It's all just bad advertising
There hasn't been a really decent patch for a couple of years now. Where's the Viaccess 2.6 support on Technomate?

Ok some like cs others prefer to avoid it and seek an alternative route. Those that do will go down the road of cams or boxes such as spiderbox or protek. As long as you are content with the box that you have then I cant personally see what the problem is.

I dont think you need to be a rocket scientist to know who Bobi is but from what I gather thus far he has lots of happy customers surely thats the aim. Kudos to him. Leaving aside the gift the box has a good spec so you are getting decent vfm. Its not being sold on the basis that the gift lasts forever.

As for bringing out more boxes thats business. I think Ford have moved on from the model T LOL.

Many of us have seen boxes come and go. Biggest prolem being a box (or CAM) appears and gets hype and many users, then a new package is opened and a new v2 box or CAM appears and the original is no longer supported leaving users little option but to buy the v2 - then the v3 comes out.

I suppose the fear is that the Spiderbox "Gift" server could go down, or become well over-subscribed and a new Spider+Box appears with access to a better "Gift" that is not available on the original box - I'm not saying this will happen, but it could.

That's the big advantage of open source, continual developments are available without having to upgrade the firmware.

That is for all product of this world...

Now spiderbox has Cccam and newcamd if after 12months no more gift perhaps...use the Cccam for conection. thats it.

The spiderbox as i have read(please correct me if i am wrong)can only accept incoming share so you are never going to be able to open channels with out some subscription to a server whether it be a gift or a paid server in 12 months(you is going to share with you when you cant share back).Were if you were to go down the road of a linux based 500s(?60) or technomate500 at a fraction of the cost(?80).Then you can still join a paid server(which i do not agree with) or get your own share and open a lot more including the sky packages

The spiderbox as i have read(please correct me if i am wrong)can only accept incoming share so you are never going to be able to open channels with out some subscription to a server whether it be a gift or a paid server in 12 months(you is going to share with you when you cant share back).Were if you were to go down the road of a linux based 500s(?60) or technomate500 at a fraction of the cost(?80).Then you can still join a paid server(which i do not agree with) or get your own share and open a lot more including the sky packages

you are paranoid if you still think i am a competitor or a cap what ever that is.I have no wish to come looking for you i do not wish to go on your site there is nothing there i need .All i am doing is making a point that you can open a lot more with a linux box and that includes your eagle boxes than you can with these supper boxes that is why i mention sky(this site has a large cable following and will be soon losing there sky channels).I have been into this hobbie long enough to see supper box and supper card come and go that promise everything then turn into expensive ice scrappers.There a lot of members on this site that are looking for alternative to there soon to be obsolete cable boxes.So i am telling them that this is not the be all and end all there are alternatives at a lower cost in my opinion.By all means your spiderbox is good value as a nova subscription(as long as it lasts) would cost more than the cost of the spiderbox alone, but me personally would go for a dreambox ect.On this site people are free to post there opinions unlike other site that are owned by shops and this may be one a few reasons that this site has grown so large in a short time

What i have gathered from reviews from some unbiased sources.
If you run a PC CS server and need a HD box, the Spiderbox " apparently" Runs as a client very well to that server you have.
If you have a Sky card running newcs ( on a PC ) the spiderbox will read the card from server but will not decrypt the ecm properly.
A***t dont allow CS talk but when it comes to spiderboxes they do.
Its personal choice and suitability, although we may hate it many people do use Payservers and do not need a STB which can run a server. Here the spiderbox may be a very good choice for them.

Now the TM HD linux is on its way out, with a price tag at about ?189 you can finally choose what you want for under ?200 quid. Non linux, closed source HD STB or open source Enigma2 Linux API HD STB.

Here is an unbiased review from my mate, he is not aligned to any forums.
I asked what was box like
"The gift channels have been fine, although some odd ones that are supposed to be open all the time arent. no problems on 16e, digitalb, pink, tring all ok. canal+ france on 19e ok as well, although the few hd channels i've found to be a bit elusive.

all in all though, i think its a cracking box, picture quality is excellent with the sd quality being better than anything else i've got

Never judge against forums, only the receivers. This box stands up good against anything in its price range and the added bonus of the gift channels.
Oh by the way if anyone wonders about my connection with this receiver? There is none I am banned on Alsat so if anything should be anti spiderbox, but the receiver quality speaks for itself. Also the price tag.

Hand's up who's got a spiderbox?..err well i have!!..wot do i think of it..Mmm now let me see..picture quality is good [hd version]..easy to set up,well yes although some people need a little help setting it up in the first place..is it glitch free well in the past i must admit to having some loss or breakup of channel's [but improving all the time]..Is it easy to patch yes..doe's the remote work..yes..is the support good..at the moment yes..value for money..if i got the use of what i'm getting now[for twelve months] then yes the rest would be a bonus..will we be getting more package's [read up on that one]..Not being a technobod i chose to go down the non linux route but having got the gist it of will probably go that way in the future..

My mate has a spiderbox and he suffers from constant freezing to the point that its unwatchable. That bad that I think he is going to stick it on fleabay.

He has patched it to the latest patch but its still freezing. He is not a happy bunny with it. He reckons he has been banned from Alsat for posting something negative about his Spiderbox.

I must say though that I am a fan of Alsat and their products, and think the support is great. I have told him to get back on their and ask for some support on getting it up an running properly, and I am sure they will help him get it up and running.

I see from another forum that a spiderbox 7000 HD is being released but apparently much cheaper price. If as promised it opens Canal+ Scandavia (so will the 9000 and SD models) you would be getting some cracking packages.

Just my two penneth worth here.
I've had this box about a month now and i've got to say i'm pretty dissappointed.
the variety on the gift is ok when not freezing which to be fair it has its good and bad days but the HD content on the gift is pretty much unwatchable which is a shame because the clarity when working is excellent,however that aside i took the gamble because a decent FTA HD box will set you back over a ton(not yer cheap bush,goodmans)and i guess with time the releases with this box may eradicate some issues plus its got a few things up it sleeves.
Now before anyone starts slating me,this is just my own valued opinion,and i'm sure others are happy with there's but for me it just needs a little fine tuning here and there.

yep m8 that was the way i looked at it worked out the cost of a free 2 air hd box and then went for the spiderbox and in time their will be more free hd coming on mine works ok most the time its not a bad box but am sure their are a lot better out their but time will tell a on the plus side when the gift runs out no 1 knows what will happen but it is still a hd box

i am now at the point wheir i have put the spiderbox away and dont want 2 look at it no more 1 day it seems 2 work and has stuff on it next day it dont so i got sick of it have 1 box that i just trun on and it works it up dates on its own and seems 2 have more on than the spider but its not hd but who cares it works so will do me lol may be 1 day i will be happy with the spider but that has not come yet so out of sight is out of mind lol have a good day all

See if you can get a test line from a premium server provider, then you can see if it's the box or the "Gift" share that's the problem. I don't have one of these boxes, but I suspect the Gift server is well over subscribed by now.

Try Googling cardshare and look through the dedicated forums for decent pay servers. Be aware that Pay servers in general do have a bad rep. They can become over-subscribed or just vanish at any time, so unless you get a good recommendation, subscribe on a Monthly basis.

hi guys, i dont know that much concerning boxs like the s*****box but surely when they set the s***** up they must have a idea of how many boxs they can sell and connect to the s*****, say at a guess 10,000 maximum to provide a stable glitch free service and then when they get to that amount of units sold and connected, then either upgrade and expand the s***** so it can cope with more connections or say thats it now guys the s***** is at its technical limits so we are not selling anymore s*****boxs. is this not comman sense?, or is it more difficult than this?:ciao:

The reviews of the Spiderbox are good at the moment and then 2 years down the line the support will be dead just like the Darkbox and Darkman will move onto promoting some other box.

Do yourself a favour lads don't listen this crap and stick to Technomate receivers at least they have never stopped support for majority of their boxes over the years.

I'm well pleased with my spiderboxes now. The gift channels are great and never freeze even a bit since I changed my crappy ISP DNS servers to opendns servers. (Use google if you want to know more about that).
I also got myself a cheapo computer off the web, installed debian with cccam and stuck a smargo with a cheap sub card in it into the usb slot.
The spider works brilliantly with my new linux computer (I'm so chuffed with myself) and now I've got connected to my two cards + my Gamma (Bulsat) in an irdeto cam and there's nothing I want to watch that I can't watch on any sat.
I thought it would take ages to catch on to the whole CCcam/Newcs thing, but it's so damn easy...

Darkman is a hypocrite. For ages cardsharing was banned on Alsat and people were kicked off for discussing it, then when Alsat's member stopped coming because nothing was open, Alsat's sales have dropped and so what happens? Cardsharing is allowed. They would sell their own mother if it meant a quick sale!

Why not stick to your own forum instead of using this one to sell more kit. I'm afraid this place isn't like Alsat, on here we have a bit more freedom of expression and the right to tell the truth.

The truth is you've ripped off a lot of customers and there are a huge amount of people who say you are scum. I ordered a sat reciever for next day, and paid extra for that, and did it turn up? A week later it wasn't there. I Emailed, no reply, I messaged several times on the forum, and got banned as a troublemaker!

So if you buy from Alsat and it doesn't get there, or doesn't work, they will ignore you and ban you. Don't buy from them.

thanks for the reply, do I need to buy a card for the Protek or is it c/s or can I patch it or what?

although I've had my box for some time it's so easy to update via usb that I don't know how to do anythig else.

blood doesnt need any card mate. just have it rigged up to an ethernet cable (internet connection) and all the uploads can be done via the net. its a good box for the price.

on the negative side it doesnt have the same the breadth of sats as the spiderbox but on the positive its not restricted to a years gift viewing.

the 9600i will do the job,

Maxx 1000 LAN Receiver same as protek 9600ip and NanoXX

is that right, 'cos the Maxx 1000 was a lot cheaper than the Protek 9600i, and it was it flashed, whatever that is? But I don't mind paying to get the right box and stuff. I saw a Protek from a shop, but I assum that it won't be flashed and I also asumm I need it flashed. Can a oldie dimwit like me flash a box. Sorry for all the questions.

A friend of mine purchased 12 Months Sly Italia card, in the end it was only a 6+1month card but this is the one bad report i have heard, i have bought from them before and product was fine, Only the AZBox took 3 weeks to be delivered.

Basically if you want it you get it, if not you dont, if your not sure you take the gamble!

The maxx 1000 have been around for some time and its not HD unlike the spiderbox 9000hd.But saying all that it is cheap and a good way into sat at ?75 on fleebay is not going to break the bank if you dont like it.Flashing them is not hard to do if you have done a cable box then you should have no big problems

blood from what i have read some (not all) max boxes are not guaranteed to connect to the server whereas the protek is. this is what you will get

Free gift
menu,accessory, press network
scroll to NuevoXstream
press server setup
turn on,go to authorisation press ok,
enter key supplied with box,
down to register press ok.exit out and all
should be done

cccam is on the same network page(ip setup) but thats all i can say on here,you'll have to google if you want to use that facility.

if you load the patch press Menu. 1111 after all menu will be on what mark36 has explain well.

As this is Spiderbox thread can we stop all the slagging off of other forums. Lets stick to reviewing the receiver and not individuals as we gain nothing. I personally dont own one so cannot comment but know lots who do and they seem happy enough.

i know i said i would not post in this thread again but this Mathos guy has only made 3 posts and all of them are about how good the spiderbox is lol

What a lot of bitter miserable people there are on this forum. I give my valid opinion about the spiderboxes and because I'm happy with them I get belittled because I only have 3 posts before this.
As I mentioned before, I had technomates and got fed up with patches doing bugger all.
Slagging members off is a great way to keep a forum interesting... Is that the philosophy here? No surprise I haven't made many posts then, is it?

This thread has strayed off course on numerous occasions. If it continues to do so it will be closed.

It is opened for reviews and comments of this particular STB. I have seen others use similar STBs as a measuring stick when put side by side with the Spiderbox. This is not stepping outside of the topic these type of posts are fine when used for guidance purposes.

Everyone is entitled to give their opinions here whether good or bad. If a post is seen as offensive or in conflict with our forum rules please use the "report" button.

The thread is bordering close to our rules on CS, when speaking about the gift that comes with the box. But we have let the thread continue as all have steered this discussion to members asking, to google for answers relating to CS. Thanks to all for that.

As said by Admin in an earlier post, the thread can be used in an informative manner without any cross forum feuds been brought to DK.

Shame to see quite a good thread on the verge of been closed because of a few questionable posts.

Please stick to the topic and leave the comments about how people should post outside of DK.

Regards reports well and good for fixing any problems. But as some of the reports I have seen regards freezing are still to be appeased, how are they progressing?

Regards CAMs or CS please keep the discussions outside of DK also. Hard I know given the nature of this box.

Shame as I said earlier the thread was informative for a while but it has now gone down a route that is neither informative or constructive for any user of this STB. Any question I posed to you would be answered with another one.

Thread closed and TBH I cannot even be bothered to issue an infraction or a ban based on your last reply. But then again we do like the friendly approach here at DK.
