GM does not support "officially" used module on any car since 2011 or so.
You'll need to program the hell out of it online with all adaptations.
Just did one for 2017

You can try, I don't normally beleive untill I try but I've had cases (other modules) on GM cars that go to la-la land...

oh man...

even if i find out what part number the module is and get a used module with same part number ? this car have single stage or dual stage front airbags. if you find module with part number you need, it's not guarantee the donor car have same configuration as yours

STOP!

Putting a used module in it could result in a no start, and a bigger bill for more new modules, DO NOT put a used module in it.

Global A vehicles require new from the dealer and proper flash programming.

Online flash will take care of that

Take care of what? Once a used module is installed, it's a brick and no online GM flash can repair it. Nor the other modules it locks up.

The Global A system vehicles ain't your grampa's Oldsmobile. lol

It WILL brick the SRS module, and can brick the ECM or BCM, the info is unclear what modules will lock the others out and nobody in their right mind will experiment to find out. This is from personal knowledge, from some plank swapping his cluster to get lower mileage. He had to buy a new cluster and BCM and pay for the programming. ($2000.00)

Safest bet, don't plug used modules in a GM Global A system and power it up.

The auto manufacturers have all been fighting the right to repair by small shops and DIY, and this is GM's way of screwing them. It will also have a devastating effect on the auto recyclers because they won't be able to sell used modules.

The worst part is, you are dependent on the dealers to repair any faults, but what happens in 7-10 years when the new parts are obsolete? With older vehicles there was always the breakers for used parts and at worst program them to the car, now you're screwed. lol

There are companies that have figured out how to virgin modules so they can be flashed as new, but they are few and far between and damn expensive.

Nothing much left to explain.. he is right, used modules can be program to car with someone with a gm computer. in fact you can put swap different sdm module with a 2017 chevy impala and light will go off and you won't even get a config error at all.

I called up the dealership and they looked up by VIN number and gave me a part number for the airbag computer.

if I buy this new it should be ok to install ?
