I cannot read or write to the eeprom anyone know why? I am using carprog original. Dash is VDO Bosch crypto p/n 4B0920981N version D09 93c86 8bit . Carprog will connect and read but the dump comes up like its been erased or blank FF written in all fields. When trying to write carprgo writes without issues but give error when verifying. After if i try t read again dump is still empty. Carprog is new,Got it yesterday. I dont think I need a external power supply do I? Tried with pogo and desoldered no change. Tried with shorted oscilator no change. Any ideas??

Orientation is correct. You need to desolder or short xtal when reading with clip incircuit.
