Neighbour gave me his laptop to have a look at it tonight!
Seems avg was on it before but no active virus scanner on it now!
Windows security alerted thats its infected by several dangerous worms. I connected it to my wireless network and tried downloading diff antivirus' but it fails to connect to any of them. eg, AVG/Avast/NOD.
Obviously the virus' are stopping it from connecting as I downloaded them on my own lappy and transferred avg and Avast onto its c drive, but it wont let me install any of them.
Also stoppig me from connecting to Spybot- search and destroy, ~~~~ing internet explorer screens open up by themselves as well.
What can i do to get rid of them or any one ever been in a similar situtation?
Thanks
T
Also, just flashed up that its infected by these ones:
Win/Netsky.Q worm
SoapHoax Spyware
Win32/Bagle.HE Worm

That would be better option. You could try safe mode with networking, hoping that thats not infected also.
Personally format an reinstal would do. If personal files need saving then try but not always an option

Thanks for the replies, me thinks i will advise him to pass it on to someone with a bit more experience. My IT skill are fairly limited.
Thanks again!

What if you download antvirus program on some other computer and copy it via USB key to infested computer (run in safe mode) and then install it there.

This is a good standalone antivirus for emergencies.

If you can download McAfee Stinger and get it onto to a Flash drive you may find it a very useful tool as its main objective is to get rid of Trojans etc. And another thing do not offer to fix other people's computers for them unless you have a great deal of knowledge on how to fix them as the person may hold you liable for repairing their computer - friend or no friend.
