The battery for BMW I8 is dead and I can't open driver's door via mechanical emergency key fob because the key fob turn 90 degrees left and I hear noises but it can't unlock it . It need electrical for open.
I want to know , if the car's battery is dead why it can't open or it has another way?

I open a I3, a while back.
With totally, no battery at all.
And no keys.
Worked just fine.
90 degrees left.

Seen several R8 and RS5 etc.
Where the internals of the lock cylinder, is removed.
And even blending cap, over the lock cylinder position.
So only way in, is to smash the window.

I guess this is done to avoid theft, of the vehicle.

But should be more difficult on this model.
Its a bench job, to make the car start with no keys.
At least for the moment.

If you can find a small place, somewhere in the car.
With + and - (minus) 12V connections.
Like a light.
Maybe license plate light would work?
Use small crocodile clip, to the battery charger
There is a chance to charge the battery, a little bit.
To make the remote control of the key, to work.

Seen it done earlier from the rear back/tail light, on a MB.

You are right, BUT you can't charge battery like this with cables of lights, that are normally off. Voltage will not even get to battery. You have to find cables, that are always have voltage in normal conditions.

Yes I know.
It was just an example, which I remember from earlier.
Need of course to check the voltage, of the circuit first.

Then connect the charger.
