Read and folow next steps...( it is not my tutorial , it is shared somewhere over here on this thread..

Step1: Please ensure that you have installed the VCDS software.

Step2: Plug your disabled cable to the USB. There maybe be a pop-up window to indicate you to install the driver, for damaged cable, let it be, skip it.

Step3: Right click "my computer", select " hardware", then "device manager", then "Other device", the " USB device".

Step4: Right click "USB device", select "properties", select " detail", there will be a line information displayed. VID_xxxx & PID_xxxx, please write down the 4 letters or number for VID and PID.

Step5: Unplug the cable, select" my computer" --"C:/"--"Ross-Tech"--"VCDS"--"RT-USB.inf".

Step6: In item [FtdiHw], please add one more line as " %USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx.DeviceDesc%=RT-USB, USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx", (EXEMPLU:%USB\VID_0403&PID_6001.DeviceDesc%=RT-USB,USB\VID_0403&PID_6001)
please ensure the four number or alphabets are the same as the ones you write down in step 4.

Step7: In the end of the text, add one more line as " USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx.DeviceDesc="VCDS Compatible USB Interface", the four numbers or alphabets are also the same as the ones you write down in step4.

Step8: Save "RT-USB.inf" file and then exit.

Step9: Unplug the cable, and then plug the cable to the USB port. System will indication found new hardware, and will pop up window for driver update. If do not have the pop up window, let it be, Right click "my computer", select " hardware", then "device manager", then "Other device", then right click "USB device", select update drive.

Step10: Let the driver point to C:/Ross-Tech/VCDS

Step11: System will search the drive for several seconds, then it will indicate that find the driver and then install it.

Unknown device appear usualy when cannot communicate properly with FTDI. That mean interrupted cable or FT232 defective or locked.

1. 805 is very old software.
2. 11.11.0 is for free and you can find here, in this thread.

So..why don't reprogram your cable to be 11.11.0?

That because if your cable is 805.0 with FT232B must work with 805.0. If not, is erased..must reprogram.
Is is with FT232RL...must a loader. And, maybe, reprogram.

Clones work ONLY with soft arrived when you bought the cable.

For update you must do few opperations: mandatory reprogramm ATMEGA.
Optional/depending of model of cable, few rerouting wires, reprogramm GAL/ATF, reprogramm FTDI...

Read carefuly this topic, you'll find how and when.

I don't mean to use both VAG systems together just have it in the same computer to use sometimes one and others the newer one. Anyone have used both like this?

Device manager with VCDS connected: search in usb Ross tech..right clik->properties, second tab (driver) and will see version.

Or, for sure in control panel add/remove programs..will see windows driver package..Ross tech..(date and version).
Remove 2.08.xxx with cable DISCONNECTED
Must remain 2.06.00 or, if have 14.10.x, 2.10.00 version. If not exist, connect cable and install driver from a vcds folder except 11.11.0.

First you must have Flash and Eeprom files for 14.10.0 or later version.
Second, must have the proper installer for this version.
Third must opperate few modifications on your PCB (desolder 3 components).

And most important IC3 is ATMEGA162? I see a "2V" on it but no more, because is hidden by LM7805 regulator.
If have Atmega 162, can do reprogram with "first point" files, install "second" and opperate "third"..
If not, let cable as-is.

Your problemm is to find flash, eeprom and installer. Are not for free.

I have reinstalled the program and now i can not connect to any ecu interface status -2 and the cable shows not registered yet so i will try to reflash it and report

this cable will make me crazy.I tried with upa usb the software said successful erase and write but nothing was a lie. Then I tried with ponyprog I made parallel cable with resistors but the pony said device unknown after a few tries the red lamp from cable switch off and now is not working.What happened and why the pony said unknown device?

because..as is writen in him manual, must press PROBE. If the test is not ok, never try to programm something

If probe was ok, the wires was soldered eraticaly (miso wire on mosi pin, b.e.)

Anyway, the LPT port must be set ECP mode (in bios)...

Now if LED not light, the uC atmega:
1 is erased or
2 the fusebits are wrong - in this case must unlock with a paralell programmer or with Atmega doctor...

How is recognized in Device Manager?
12.12.0 cn clone installers are for FA30 or FA24 PID.
If use 12.12.0 for Fa30 with Fa24 the response is like yours..
If dump is broken can be the same response..

We cannot know what you have...

What cable? From where you bought? If you bought from someone like 12.12.0, you must install sw and driver and must work.

If not, contact seller.

If you only download an 12.12.0 from internet and run with a cable you have, b.e. 11.11.0, never work, only if you make few opperations that are in this topic. Search with attn.

what PID? FA20, FA24 or FA30?
For install 12.12.0 CHN must dezactivate antivirus, install sw and create an exception in antivirus for that folder, b.e. C:\RossTech\VCDS\. That because few files are detected like virus. look in quarantine, have you some like "lpk.dll"? or "usb.dll"? This files are needed for clone.
But, if is this version, is bad version.

I tried to copy paste UDS_UV from 14.10 to my version 11.11.3 but still no luck.The vsds shows me that the .rod file not found EV_ECM16TDI03L 001003 (sk35) i found in my file EV_ECM16TDI03L906023AG.rod i tried to rename but i have the same problem any ideas please?

Probably the car you intend to scan it is not covered by your vcds version. So you need a cable that works with a newer version of VCDS.
Do not instal a new vers. of vcds for you old cable without reflash it with proper dump; otherwise you will damage it.

b.e. in 11.11.5 ROMANIAN is not possible to made LC for an Can GW

1K0-907-530-V1.clb exist in LAbels and in Labels\ROJ
Exist too 1K0-907-530.lbl.

First, vcds search .lbl files.
If found, work with the address form .lbl.
But RT try to replace .lbl with .clb labels.
So, if the .lbl have not all data, LC work defective, display the bites but like bite 0,1,2,etc and Bytes like byte 0, 1...

If rename 1K0-907-530.lbl, my Can GW appear witk 1K0-907-530-V1.clb label and LC work fine.

First, vcds search .lbl files.
If found, work with the address form .lbl.
But RT try to replace .lbl with .clb labels.
So, if the .lbl have not all data, LC work defective, display the bites but like bite 0,1,2,etc and Bytes like byte 0, 1...

If rename 1K0-907-530.lbl, my Can GW appear witk 1K0-907-530-V1.clb label and LC work fine.

I renamed 1K0-907-530.lbl in _ 1K0-907-530.lbl. In this case VCDS cannot find 1K0-907-530.lbl and try to find another label with the same string in name. In ROJ find 1K0-907-530V1.clb. In this file exist the correct info.

But that for one type of Can GW, for a Skoda Octavia. Of course, for more, too.

Solutions:
1. PARALLEL programmer (NOT like pony, on PARALLEL cable, that is serial programmer on LPT port).
Parallel programmer mean a programmer that use an Vpp (12V or another value) and write simultaneously on an address.
2. Atmega doctor, you'll find on internet the schematic..

IF led not light, (red first and after few seconds green) mean that atmega not start or is not powered.

Open the case, power the cable with 12V (pin 16 OBD2, GND-pin4/5 OBD2) and verify existence of 12V between pins 1-2 of LM7805 and +5V between pins 3-2 of LM7805.
If not 12V, verify pin16 obd2....pin 1 lm7805..
If 12V =Y and +5V not, verify LM7805.
If +5V yes, that mean Atmega don't start. Maybe programming was unsuccessfull or the fusebits was wrong set.

Every time I try to connect to a newer car (CAN Connection) it remains connected 15sec more or less and a "NOT RESPONSE FROM CONTROLLER" message appears. Older cars with KW1281 or KWP2000 (K-Line based) I don't have any issue at all. Inclusive I have logs of 30min nicelly done.

I do have exactly the same issue. To me it seems like there is a problem with the stability of the CAN communication. My OS is Win7 32bit and the software is running on an ASUS EeePC (Atom N270, 2GB RAM). Maybe the CPU is not fast enough to ensure the signal quality?

This weird thing is that according to VCDS it should use really low resources. Almost any computer will work. Take a look at it requirements.

I am thinking that could be a hardware problem or issue with CAN transceiver, I think. If it was a software problem it will occurs with non-can cars too. Also should be a difference between a "COMMUNICATION ERROR" and "NOT RESPONSE FROM CONTROLLER" messages.

Ok yesterday I have done some more tests and when I use interface for first time I can use almost 5 minutes, more or less, and starts to fail communication with controller, blinking led red-green make it slower, finally going green again, and no blink at all. I close controller and connect again, it work again, but just some seconds and fails again. I open interface and all components and traces in board seems to be OK. I need to test 7805 regulator. What any other deep tests can I do to isolate which component is causing this problem?

Ok I have done some more tests. I connect interface on bench and I can work with it up to 5min until it start to have issues. When then interface starts to have problems it indicate a code: G2KM=257. 5V regulator (KA7805) is quite good, voltage is 5.02VDC really stable all time. Yes it is an Euro HQ V12.12.0 that can be used with internet ON, what do you mean change FT232BL? change IC or change dump? About desolder STC which resistor do I need to take out? Also if I take out can I still use the interface with internet ON?

Why do you call as HQ Clone a cable with STC IC inside?
A HQ solution don't need protection IC because the FDTI eeprom will be never ereased or modified, so you don't need to protect it.

I call it HQ because it was named that way when I bought it. Supposelly it is an unbreakable unit, it stills work nicely but just some minutes before it start to have problems. I thought that STC was there to protect ATMEGA162 uC and also only FT232RL can be modified from computer/laptop, FT232BL no. I was wrong?

Ok understood. I have used MProg 3.0 in the past. Then main program can modify FT232BM/BL external. But my interface is still connected to USB port and detected properly.

Yes until now the Autoscan function have run 100% good, without errors and without message "THIS FUNCTION REQUIRE A LICENSED INTERFACE". I will test it again some times to test this function deepely.

That is the weird thing about this cable, it is still running, it is still usable, but after some minutes (sometimes seconds) it loose controller connection. You restart connection and it can be used some seconds again. You can do it all day. For me is a really odd issue. Also I have used with internet ON it is still working.

I have cable error code G2KM=257. It will nice to now what means these error codes. About your cable, from my readings seems to me that your interface was detected and was deleted.

I have installed the vcds 11.11.3 with new cable that i bought it from china.The cable is working fine but in uds protocol on golf vi said that no asam data available and the errors was unknown.I had the 11.11.0 without this problem is something wrong with the cable?

Hello mates, I'd kindly need your help: I have got a china cable v.12.10 with software 12.10.3 beta. It worked fine for a couple of years (always on my netbook with WindowsXp pro sp3 with wifi off + Avira AV always disabled and pc-time always set to April 1st,2013). Unfortunately, recently I have probably forgotten for some minutes my wifi on and now I always get the here attached error: "not plugged into car" warning message.
I also first noticed before this warning an odd behaviour during vcds connection to the car: initially it started giving me for more than a couple of time a "failure to communicate" error but after some attempts it started working fine receiving data from the car (ECU) but now I always have the "not plugged into car" message.
I have also to tell you that this cable since the beginning never did a complete auto-scan of my car modules but it worked by checking the individual modules... I do not know if this was also regular ?!?
Please also note that when I now connect the cable to my VW car the led turns on (green color) but if I only connect the cable to the netbook the led is off (no red or green color) though the cable appears as "Ross-Tech direct usb interface" with driver version 2.8.14.0 on device manager, is it normal?
Moreover, if I give a look to the its hardware properties, I found out the following:USB\VID_0403&PID_FA24&REV_0600
When vcds was working fine and I used to try the test button, I always got back a message similar to this one I found on the internet and here as attached picture, stating that everything was good. Now it isn't! :(
Any highly appreciated suggestion to fix and restore my cable?

reprogramm it with good dumps.
if you cannot change the ftdi VID/PID you have to change the 93C46 and the it will work.
My freind liviudiaconu ( our mate ) just did this on an interface sent it by me.
At this interface the VID_0000/PID_0000, I could changed it to VID_0403/PID_6001 and I did the procedure then tried to use VIDPIDFIX but had an error and with MProg I couldent reprogramm the FTDI.
When I took off the interface from the USB and plugged back the VID/PID come back to the unknown device (VID_0000/PID_0000).
The solution was:
Changed the 93C46 and reprogrammed the Atmega like in the tutorial.
This is it.

I pass some time past Sunday trying to revive this cable without luck. I take out 93C56 and found the dump I attach. It seems to me to be fine. 1 of 10 times it recognize cable and I got VID_0403 PID_FA20, 9 other times WinXP does not recognize it, it shows VID_0000 PID_0000. Inclusive MProg sends a message of FT incorrect handle. I am starting to suspect some hardware failure. Could be cable. I need to check. Also now every time I energize cable led is green all time. It doesn't start red and pass to green. I have erase and reprogram ATMega162 with previous good dumps several times. This is making me nuts.

Here are some pics of the interface. It is a FT232BL one. STC and related ICs was taken out. I desolder 93C56 and read it, finding the previous attached dump. I erase, reflash and solder again. Problem remains.

Hi KenshinPT I tryied it too. I try it modifing RT-USB.inf and inclusive FTDIport.inf for the related VID_0000 & PID_0000 and cable was not recognized neither. Some really sporadic times it is recognized as a HEX USB CABLE other it is not recognized at all. WinXP shows a yellow flag with VID_0000 & PID_0000 with an error like device can not be opened or connected. Win7 doesn't show any VID or PID at all. It only show DEVICE UNKNOWN.

Here is 93C56 dump. You can see VID & PID in dump. I am starting to think about a hardware problem. Could be USB cable. Some days ago, it was working without problems.

Well friends, I have checked USB cable and it is working good. I have checked continuity of cable and it is OK!!! Red, black, green and white wires are properly connected. I have changed 93C56 dump with one attached here that should be for a FT232BL cable. Situation is the same. Weird thing is that first time I connect cable it is recognized with an error but it is recognized. When I try to connect to it with MProg it sends FT incorrect handle message. After that I take out and reconnect it several times, without WinXP recognize it again. Maybe FT232BL or some component around it is bad.

A question, exist any way or software to determine if really FT232xx is good or not?

Hello mates, I'd kindly need your help: I have got a china cable v.12.10 with software 12.10.3 beta. It worked fine for a couple of years (always on my netbook with WindowsXp pro sp3 with wifi off + Avira AV always disabled and pc-time always set to April 1st,2013). Unfortunately, recently I have probably forgotten for some minutes my wifi on and now I always get the here attached error: "not plugged into car" warning message.
I also first noticed before this warning an odd behaviour during vcds connection to the car: initially it started giving me for more than a couple of time a "failure to communicate" error but after some attempts it started working fine receiving data from the car (ECU) but now I always have the "not plugged into car" message.
I have also to tell you that this cable since the beginning never did a complete auto-scan of my car modules but it worked by checking the individual modules... I do not know if this was also regular ?!?
Please also note that when I now connect the cable to my VW car the led turns on (green color) but if I only connect the cable to the netbook the led is off (no red or green color) though the cable appears as "Ross-Tech direct usb interface" with driver version 2.8.14.0 on device manager, is it normal?
Moreover, if I give a look to the its hardware properties, I found out the following:USB\VID_0403&PID_FA24&REV_0600
When vcds was working fine and I used to try the test button, I always got back a message similar to this one I found on the internet and here as attached picture, stating that everything was good. Now it isn't! :(
Any highly appreciated suggestion to fix and restore my cable?

CAN will be = OK when you make test on a car with CAN. I do not know if your car has CAN.

Alex, I do not know if it is this way because when I bought it and did the test (without connecting it to the car, the CAN was OK, not need to connect to the car).
I think it is something related to fuse and bits (security and configuration bits to be done by PonyProg2000).
PS: my VW car has CAN (2006).

My clone cable was locked due to an unintentional internet access so I was forced to re-program the cable.
I have flashed FTDI and Atmega162 (fw+eeprom) and now I have fw 1.92 and vers 6 for 11.11.5-12.12.0 (eeprom 512 rl.hex).
I tried it with both software vcds version 11.11.5 and 12.12.0 simulating a connection giving 12v power to LM7805.

I successfully tested my (ex 12.10 ver.) cable with both vcds v.11.11.5 (with long coding support) and 12.12.0: everything was perfect! I have also just done for the first time a complete "auto-scan", it never happened to do it completely before with previous beta ver. 12.10.3 (very bad release). Thanks mates for your suggestions!

PS: at the end of this story, it was "good" that RT had remotely locked my ex 12.10 cable... this has meant that I do improve to reprogram it and make it fully functional with better version as 11.11.5 and 12.12.0.

It is enougth to remove STC(if you have it); my first interface came with STC, and at my first update I removed that chip, in order to reflash Atmega. So you can leave R51 on pcb; if my cable works well with it on pcb, yours will do the same.

Hello Alexm1, I do not think mine got STC component (what was exactly this component, what's its function?).
You can give a look at my pcb on a previous post where I have attached pictures of the 2 sides at page 292 #4377: IC8 and transistor D7 are missing, R50 and R51 still present. Thanks.

STC was "planted" there to protect Atmega, but this protection with STC was broken by RossT......etc.. It is useless to keep it on pcb, first of all does not protect Atmega and more than that you can not reflash with new dumps.

Hello mates, I have another chinese cable ver 12.12 that seems to work well and quickly with the included software 12.12.3a but honestly the impression "at first sight" of the pcb is that it is a bad product!
I would like to receive your impression/thoughts...
I attached here both sides of the pcb that genuinely seems very poor and built with great savings of all.
I immediately noticed, it does not have the voltage regulator LM7805 and I would not put in danger the ECU of my car while connected!
I want to include the LM7805 regulator for safety reason on this pcb circuit.. What do you think about it? if so, where it would be advisable to add it on the pcb?
I also noticed that there is no Atmel GAL / ATF16V8B IC that should serve to better support K-line (as K-line adaptations), right?
In addition, the specifications (serial model type/number) printed on ICs were canceled and I do not know if this cable comes out with an ATMEGA162 or any other EEPROM as NEC for example. Also FTDI label and number on IC is cancelled (but surely it should be a FT232RL). Only MCP numbers (on IC5 and IC6) are visible.
When I connect the vcds cable to the usb port on my netbook, the led turns on with a red light and when I make the test (the led turns from red to green and starts blinking). As result I have the attached odd message:
Status: Questionable
K1: short to ground
K2: short to ground
CAN: not ready
When I connect it to my car, then I get the following info
Status: Ready
K1: OK
k2: OK
CAN: OK
and everything starts to works fine.

Hello mates, is there anybody who knows how to extract (read and write as well) - for example with a software as "ponyprog2000" - the "hex flash eeprom" from a NEC eeprom on Chinese clone cable pcb? Is it the same procedure as for Atmega162?
This IC/MCU chipset with 11x11pins (usually NEC) used in this chinese clone cable (in place of Atmega162) should be a NEC D79F8513A (Manufacturer is often NEC but could be Renesas or OEM as well).

I have opened "Atmega162_flash_and_eeprom 11.11.0.hex" file in Ponyprog and there are four options:
-Save Device file
-Save Device file as
-Save Program (FLASH) file as
-Save Data (EEPROM) file as

When I click third option and choice *.hex, it looks similiar to hex file which I have read from my cable, same size, same addresses. So I think it's ok.


When I click fourth option and choice *.eep file have 16 kilo and very different then file which I have read from cable (original *.eep have 553 bytes). When I choice *.hex in fourth option it look like original *.eep but it's hex, can I use this hex eeprom file if it looks like original eep file but it's hex?

In attachment "myfirmware.zip" is dump which I have read from my cable. In second zip there is original hex file which have flash and eeprom, other two files I have made with ponyprog, can somebody tell that they are ok?

Must be Green. You power-up the cable? (+12V between pins 16 and 4 OBD2 or plugged in a car).
If not, that's the problemm.

And if LED is red when connect at usb, the cable is cheap and bad.

In the pictures attached are 2 interfaces (1=old one 2009, 2= 2013) .
Nr. 2 has STC on pcb, because was "damaged by internet" I had to reflash Atmega to make it work, but without removing STC.
After first test it looks that it working fine.
So, is this type of interface(nr. 2) an exception that could be reflashed without removing STC chip? Or it is a matter of until will stop working(without internet " help")?

That stc is worthless. You'll be better of without it. It's no exception. There are others cables with stc that got the atmega162 data compromised. And in time the ft232BL won't work ok with that stc on the board.

I have a Chinese Vag11.11 interface, firmware 1.84, FTDI FT232BL, & Atmega 162. It reads and writes to the FTDI any .ept, so it's recognized and I can install any drivers for it.

The problem is it still shows up unlicensed. I'm not sure if I haven't had the proper .ept, or if the Atmega is damaged, and need to be reflashed. This past .ept I used (VCDSFT232BL.ept, from fantomels "1.VCDS COLLECTION") didn't return to the "this feature needs a registered copy" during auto-scan. It left me with:

Hey all. I have an FT252BM chip, and have successfully loaded the VCDSFT232BL EPT to the cable using MProg. When I load up VCDS, it detects the cable and has no issues until I connect it to the car. From there, I hear the driver update noise from the computer, and i get issues, saying interface not found, etc. I do also understand that having a BM chip means I won't need a loader for VCDS - correct?

I believe this is due to needing to program the atmega, no? My computer doesn't have a parallel port, so i'm unsure of any other ways to manually program it (maybe build one with a SATA cable?). I get confused a bit because I know there is a difference between the RB/RM and RL. I assume the atmega needs to be programmed even though I do not have the RL interface.

Cable was originally an 812.4 and it still works with that version. Wondering if its possible to upgrade or if I should buy a new one.

Hello, i have read most of pages in this thread and i got this cable and unregistered problem after a while (yes laptop was connected to internet but never when using cable) anyway i think it is RL cable but since it is recognizing and there is no any USB and Connectiotion problems (i can connect it to car and use it as trial DTC remove and simillar) i will try to reflash atmega i have collection of all files and tutorials with ponyprog and parrarel cable and lpt port. I am just not getting what file to flash i have file "flash_192.hex" among others but is flash and eeprom for atmega same file? I have also "vers 6 11.11.5-12.12.0_eeprom 512 rl.hex" do i need to flash that to or that is FTDI file?

So basicly my question is what is eeprom of atmega and what is flashfile ? i dont have any .bin in my file collection.

Cable is marked as 12.12 and came with 12.12 software , i dont know if it had any loader it had that warning to turn back time on PC and disable internet when starting software.

I have same problem and i didnt find solution to repair the cable. I change mcp2515 and other small ic near mcp without results. In the end i order new interface that work fine! If u find solution share it. Good luck

You have now TWO 15.7.0, with the same programm, one working on CAN, another not?
If YES, problem is HW. If not, and the programm is differrent...the programm.

My 15.7.0 work ok on CAN.

I have purchased a VCDS that came with a loader. vcdsStart.exe is the name of the loader. I can receive updates and use this as i would with an original tool. How is this possible? Truth is it performs great both on K & CAN cars.

Also the voltage regulator works fine.

I did't bought this. I am also sure that it is a clone from China. I did't see any PCB like my one in this Thread.
Did you mean with "erased" that the software inside the Atmel was made unusable? Do I need to reflash the device?
Which instruction can I follow to fix the device?

For Atmega 162 both solutions are OK. But, for PonyProg LPT port needed, rarely on newest PCs.
USB AVR Programmers is more OK because are cheap, USB exist on most PCs.

Have a VAG 11.11 cable for a while (18 months).
Worked fine (could read codes, reset DTC's, change Long Coding, etc).

Recently, it seems it has become locked out saying certain functions need a license now.
I can only think that the Wi-Fi was on when I last used it and the VCDS 11.11 s/w has re-programmed the cable and blocked it.

Looking for help to see if it can be salvaged.
The chips on the board are:

ATMEGA162
GAL16V8B
93C56WP

FT232BL
MCP2515
TJA1050

Plus there's one empty chip pad set. See pics:

Do not worry about missing chip, you should find somewhere on this thread a tutorial.pdf and then you must have a soldering station, a usb programer avr compatible with extreme burner (easy to use), a external 12v cc power source. And the most important, you need dump for atmega and ept file for FT232BM.

I have ordered a UABasp AVR programmer.
I have +12 PSU.
I have downloaded PonyProg2000.exe and Mprog.exe

I have the tutorial.pdf, Atmega flash + eprom dumps and the EPT file for FT232BL.
I have flashed the FT232BL (using Mprog.exe)

In the meantime, I built a parallel port programmer according to the tutorial.pdf and soldered 4 wires to the Atmeg192:

But not confident about flashing the Atm162.

The reason is that when I use the READ Device command to read the Atmeg162 flash (or eeprom), the read data seems corrupted

You can t extract dump from atmega that way, it is encrypted... but if you did manage to read something, will be easy to write atmega with good dump.
Be carefull with lock/fuse bytes, you can block atmega easily.

I am confused about the fuse, lock and security bits.
Lots of folks are using ExtremeBurner and they state hex values like CD DC F9 CC FFFFFF56 but I am using Ponyprog which only has check boxes for the various bits.

And it looks like PonyProg inverts the checked bits ?

E.g. I think I need to enter these bits for the fuses, etc for fantomel's vers-6-11.11.5-12.12.0_eeprom-512-RL.hex eeprom:

Thanks for the pointers. I have successfully flashed the tool. Installed 11.11.5 s/w and the tool is Valid/Licensed :).

Unfortunately, I think it's damaged since I get "CAN: Not Ready" when I connect to the car. I tried it on both my cars (that have CAN Gateways) and both have exactly the same problem. It can only find the auto gearbox controller -- same on both cars.
I tried 11.11.0, 11.11.5 and 12.12.0....all the same result.

Either the CAN transceiver chip (TJA1050) and/or the CAN Controller chip (MCP2515) is dead :(

Can't see any other choice but to buy a new tool.
