My programmer on COM not working ok. But I use PCMCIA-COM. If you have native COM, maybe work fine.
So, I use or LPT simple programmer with Pony Prog Or USB AVR programmer with eXtreme Burner.

For LPT i use PCMCIA-LPT with change of LPT port of PCMCIA in LPT1 and in ponyprog2000.ini in line LPTPorts write the real address of LPT port generated by PCMCIA (FFE0 and FFE8 to me).

same hardware and same software which I uploaded here long time ago.

GAL device is very sensible one and you need a very stable supply voltage for programming using this schematic. Otherwise it will generate a lot of troubles.

Dear VCDS users,

On summer 2010 I bought the blue chinese usb/kkl cable for vag.
I use the cable in a Polo 6N2 year 2001.
Cable works fine but I have a software question.

But first look at pic "Engine_01_g3133_LAMBDA_ZONE"

I describe you the print screen:

Here are displayed groups 031, 032, 033.
Each group consists of 4 zones (zone is the term used in ELSA for VAS5051).

For example:
In group 033 these are the zones:
Zone 1 = 0.0% Bank1 Lambda Control; Zone 2 = N/A Bank1 Voltage of oxygen Sensor; Zone 3 = N/A; Zone 4 = N/A;

In this print screen I might have values at least in zone 1, 2 not only in zone 1.

You can compare this with the Elsa printout of VAS5051 in pic "ElsaVAS5051Group"

In pink I highlighted the two values that "must" be present even in VCDS.
In red there are other information not shown in VCDS.

In all groups from 001 to 255 all Zone2, 3, 4 there are N/A.

I ask you if this is a problem or if VCDS can't show all the information.

I didn't because one of my cables was recognize in device manager as Ross Tech, so I thought that there is no point. But what to do with the other cable which is not recognize at all. I can't see it in device manager, MProg, FtProg, etc.

You need unsolder atmel 93C46 or xxC56 and write it,it was deleted by atmega..once you have some driver data inside,and acurate driver for it,and installed correctly you can rewrite correct .ept file by mprog

My PC is missing LPT.

Buy 5 USD USB ISP flasher,better accurater ever then LPT or COM.

Using Khazama with it you can also read signature of chip,so u recognise very quick any problems wiring up or so on...:afraid:

This is the one I bought a couple months ago and is exactly the same as the one Rsibiza said above.

The one I bought from ebay didn't come with the original firmware from fischl.de - USBasp - USB programmer for Atmel AVR controllers (http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/) but, just in case, I backed up the one inside ATMEGA8 and I flashed with the original one.

I also found that the chinese firmware had a trouble when I tried to reflash powering up the programmer with the 5V from USB. But if I used an external power supply everything was OK.

Another thing, the ebay and the one Rsibiza pointed are not exacty the same hardware from fischl.de - USBasp - USB programmer for Atmel AVR controllers (http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/)

These versions don't have the jumper for "self programming" and the jumper for "slow clock". They only have the jumper for selecting the power supply (external or USB). Remember that in my case I had trouble with powering via USB... but when I changed the firmware the problem was solved.

Thanks very much rsibiza, i change 93C56 and programmed it and cable now is recognize over computer. But again after programmed with different dumps it says " Not plugged into the car" but is plugged and ignition on. I nearly sure that has something to do with GAL 16v8B, so I unsolder it put into PLCC 20DIP and into my old TOP854 programmer. But the problem is I can read GAL but I can't write .JED file into it because I'm getting some error. Do you have any idea why? Maybe I should use different file with different extension? Can you help me with this?
The another cable after programming and testing show me some message like:
K1 Line short to +12V
K2 Line OK.

I checked resistors with multimeter(I have hope that I check the right one, other wise please point me which resistors are from K1 Line) but they look fine, where could be the problem?

For "another cable" try ONLY to power it from a 12V source + on pin 16 and - on pin 4-5. Without pluggin into a car. If "K1 line short to +12V" appear again, the problem is in the interface, if not and appear K1 OK, the problem is in ypur car and is caused maybe by a "third party radio/cdplayer".
Unplug the radio and try again..

The problem is 100% with interface K1 Line short +12V, because I tested it on different cars and still to same message, as well to same error with external power supply.
Which resistors are from K1 Line?

Couldn't also be the CAN Controller (MCP2515) or the CAN Transceiver (MCP2551)?

try to program a new GAL device - in this way you will find out why you can not program now the GAL from interface.

fro the second one - could be also a diode - for sure it is an "active device" - see the bunch of transistors near to OBD plug.

Actually I need programmer for multiple purposes not only vcds cables (chiptuning, dash etc.), I have GQ-4x but it is missing atmega and gal chip support.
Right now I am looking for wellon VP280 or VP380

Chips I'm interested is:
27sf010 and similar
24c02 and similar
GAL*
Atmega162
87c257
etc.

Would be great to hear your suggestions and comments.

Hi, I fix the problem with GAL programming-it was something wrong with software, after reinstallation software now everything is working. But still can't fix my BL cable, with the GAL which was original programmed inside interface(see picture 1) I have message "Interface found - Not plugged into car" even it's plugged. If I program GAL with .jed file (see picture 2) which I found over here (Aminebot solution for RL cables) I have message "DEVICE NOT FOUND". What is wrong, maybe .JED file for BM cables has to be different??? Or is it something else???

... I have a strange situation!
if I plug firs the interface into the car and after to the USB port I received "unknown device"

if I plug the interface first into USB port and after into the car I receive "Ross Tech bla bla" = means OK.

where should I look for the issue?

Explain explicitly. How correctly to use "monitor"? How to read area with EEPROM? How from a monitoring file to make file EEPROM? My friend has a cable, want to try to read EEPROM. This cable works with Russian version 10.6. Excuse me the bad English.

I also would like to know how you do this since the data to an from the cable is encrypted,do you have a method to decrypt it??,if not then you are not getting a correct eeprom as far as i know.Hope i'm wrong an its not encrypted,but don't think so .

Me personal I haven't seen this dumps which works with original softwear ( no modifie ) from roo-tech.

I have a vag com 10.6.0
Today i try to lad it with 10.6.3 software and i Test it in Options and it says interface ok usb ok....
but when i conect it in car it says it is not pluged in car.
Now when i want to load it with old software it dosen't work ...
Can anyone tell me how can i make it work with the old software .....
what shuld i do ...step by step...

That what you say is not true. Luis Andre released the loader for VCDS11.2 to anyone for free and works very well. But some moderator deleted the topic because it was bad business for himself. I just have to tell good from Luis, always available to help without asking anything in return. My cable is working with flash 1.83 and eprom 908.

You need a special loader (software) which to tell vcds.exe the serial number of the original RL-based FTDI.

In each unit there is serial number.
If your serial number is not illegal for a versions of the software you can work with this version of the software.
It depends on serial number in a unit.

hi!

My friend gave me his not working cable - vag106 clone. it worked with VCDS 10.6.0. he forgot to disconnect internet and when he run VCDS it updated the cable firmware and killed it. I've tryied to repair it with VIDPIDfix, then i got another cable that works with VCDS 10.6.2(i dont have any more cables that works with VCDS 10.6.0) and read its chip with Mprog3.0a, erased 'killed by update' cable and programmed it with the file i read from working cable. Now VCDS 10.6.2 reactions:

It must reprogramm it but you need to use the proper version of VCDS
if you will reprogramm with 908 dumps you need to use VCDS 908
Otherwise you'll "burned" again

If you read this thread from the begining you'll find the dumps for reprogramming and how you can do it.
Please don't star to the finish.

There is not free 10.6.x dumps, therefore you can make of the 10.6.2 only a 908.

Hello,

What about this VAG 106? That blue wire was there from china. Same behavior like in Harry92 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/members/249896-harry92/) post (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f152/vag-com-vcds-everything-99750/index106.html#post1098169).

It uses RL chip. Can I use 908 dumps and 1.83 firmware for 912 beta cracked software? Or are there any 912 dumps for this?

Also in what cases does the GAL chip have to be reflashed?

My interface is detected corectly in Device Manager so I assume FTDI chip is ok, right?

Yes, it's possible, but you need the dumps for french version.

Hello, I bought a Chinese clone VAG-COM 10.6 with VCDS 10.6.0. When I connect the cable to the car some modules works fine but some not. When I try to make Auto-Scan it shows me error "Function not supported by the gateway". Is there any possibility how to resolve this problem? Have you ever seen it? I wanted to use older version of VCDS but I'm not sure if I will not destroy the cable. Any help is welcome.

If your interface is really for 10.6, you can use older versions, they will not damage your interface.

Open the case and read the chip FT232. Is nearly of the linkage of the USB cable.
Or.. BM have pins on 4 sides, RL on 2 sides (2 rows).
Or, BM/BL is a square, RL is a rectangle..

On the chip there is FT232BL, but in Mprog there si only FT232BM on the list so i choose it and then program my cable.

Problem most likely in dump, it is necessary to look this dump.

cable was for VCDS 10.6.0, but i have dump from 10.6.2 cable only. As for the moment i can program cable with the dump and then my computer looks for the drivers. I select the VCDS folder, it installs the drivers, then i connect cable to car (for the test i connect it to my '99 vw polo, so thats why the CAN line is not ready, cause it doesn't have CAN) and VCDS 10.6.2 works with test, then asks me to update cable firmware and that update kills cable. When i reprogram cable with the dump i have the situation repeats. It works also with VCDS 10.6.0, test doesn't ask me to update firmware, but when i run VCDS 10.6.0 it says my SW is outdated, when i click Aust-Scan it shows my ECU informations, VIN etc. and then cable is being killed. It fails to read if there are some errors in ECU, just gives me error that interface is not found and cable is killed again, i have to reprogram it with the dump i posted on previous page.

And what do you mean dumps,. you mean ept files that your reprogramm it with MPROG or you mean dumps for Atmega162?
It is totally diffrent.
If you use just ept with MPROG you have an Unregistred interface.

You need Atmega hex and flash to reprogramm it.
Otherwise will be Unregistred/Unactivated.

the "test.ept" is the dump for FTDI - device responsible with communication task via USB between "interface" and "pc".

for a complete dump you need all 3 dumps:
1. flash.hex (available for free here)
2. eeprom.hex (serial - not for free)
3. ross-tech.ept (you have already)

When you will have all these 3 piece than you can program you tool accordingly.

I hope now everything is clear!

you can use your tool without risk with lower versions ... (10.6.1, 10.6.0, 9XXX, 8XXX)

if you will use your tool with upper version - your tool might be locked. it depends if your serial is into the block list or not!

Hi, I have Chinese clone VAG-COM 10.6 with VCDS 10.6.0. Because there are still some problems with the cable ? it is not possible to make Auto-Scan, some modules don't work, I would like to use dump and soft 908. I read almost whole this thread but I'm still not sure what I need.

My cable has FTDI FT232RL, Atmega 162V, flash 1.81.

And now questions:

1) Do I need all 3 dumps (2 for Atmega and 1 for FTDI) or is it enough to use .EPT dump for FTDI (version 908)?

2) I downloaded .EPT dump for FT232RL from http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f152/vcds-10-6-0-work-witch-chinese-clone-165830/index4.html#post816515 but when I opened it in MProg it shows me "Device type: FT232BM". So can anybody confirm that this dump is really for FT232RL?

Hi, a friend of mine has bought a vcds 10.6 and he connect it on the internet and his interface stop to work. I have found here on dk several dumps. I try first time with 908. All went good, but if i connect on the car I cannot see any module. If I push about, the serial number is there , it is fully registred/activated every thing seems to be ok. I try also vers 11.2. Same thing. If I test the interface I have Interface OK, status ready k1 ok k2 ok can not ready. The interface is with ft232bm. When I feed up the interface at 12v the led glows red and then green and stay green. Any one can give me a suggestion? It can be erased also the pld?

Uninstall the vcds software (it is now transformed into something else, dangerous for your interface) ! Remove rt-updater from start up.
Reinstall the vcds 11.2 (or what ever dupms you have) into a DIFFERENT location (not the old one!). BUT do not install drivers !!!
Re-flash the interface with 11.2.
Put interface into computer , drive it manually to install drivers into the new location (where it is vcds.exe)
Must work.
Try not to use internet while vcds is runnig.

As I know it can't . Some people trick this module by adding , if I remeber well , 2 resistors (2.2 ohms?). You can ask liviudiaconu he had that problem solved as i know)

could you explain steps that you have followed to get succefull reflashing of vag com with FW 11.2? As Fifas asked the dump for FTDI is for FT232BL, not for RL, are you sure FT dump doesn?t matter?
I used ponyprog and parallel inteface to flash atmega162 with flash and eeprom of rusian dump

This is program loader vcds.exe. flash, eeprom not modyfi
Let see if I understud:
first, I must to reflash my vag cable with FW 11.2 flash and eeprom(because my vaccom is blocked)
second, I install VCDS 11.2 beta.
finally, I must to modify vcds.exe with diabloo2, according your previus post.

error 21 in pony prog how kan i fix. and error 24 device missing?????????

- check the connections, most probably you missed the GND connection between uC and parallel port (if you use one),

- the easiest way to program is with PonyProg sw and parallel interface.

- the resistance are there to protect PC parallel port not uC. therefore you can decrease the value up to 0 Ohm, but you can broke the parallel port of the PC.

With rusian dump come two files vcds_rus.exe and vcds_rus.dll. I installed original vcds 11.2 beta from Ross-tech, then I copied both vcds_rus files to installation directory, and I executed vcds_rus.exe instead of vcds.exe original, but don?t work. With rusian dump come two files vcds_rus.exe and vcds_rus.dll. I installed original vcds 11.2 beta from Ross-tech, then I copied both vcds_rus files to installation directory, and I executed vcds_rus.exe instead of vcds.exe original, but don?t work. Over what file I have to apply the patch loader that you tell, over Ross-tech original vcds or over vcds_rus.exe.

Well, I try to create a loader with dup2 and address and values you've indicated in previus post, but my reflashed vag still doesn't work. When I test VCDS 11.2 beta return all ok, except status: Failed Self Test.
What do you think?

There still is a little problem with drivers, but nothing that avoids me to connect with my car's computer. Apparentely VCDS11.2 beta drivers don't detect well chinese cable, then I have to run VCDS10.6 to load this version's drivers, next without doing anything else with 10.6 , I close it, and finally I open 11.2 beta -> test -> all ok , status ready. Up to now it works for me. I used AutoScan to gather general modules information of my car.

yes - it is possible to flash with what would you like (of course available for free)

all you need you can find here in this section ... just spend few hours for this job.

Yes, it's possible. I reflashed my chinese vag10.6 with FW11.2 beta, and I created a loader for VCDS with dup2, as Bat21 told me. And it works!!!

Just becasue one of us just ask and aspect somebody "stand up" to give to you everything you want. For some of use maybe the better is to make it all for you and you no touch anything.
So to much words
For the guys who ask everytime how to do this.
In this thread there are evrything they want to reprogramm by themselves their tool.
What you need
1. dumps for Atmega
2. flash for Atmega
3 ept file for FTDI
4. dump for GAL ( for that ones to make tools with FTDI RLL inside )
5 AVR programmer
Tutorial to do this also finding here for VCDS with BL/BM adn for RL
Ok it is free to ask but please ask when you don't know how to do it or you aren't pretty sure how to do it but please don't ask evrytime "where we find dumps or tutorial?"
Just read mates becasue everything is here. It is hard of course to read entire thread but this is becasue of us.

Have you tried to find some of this dump in the thread recently? Well, all links about download dumps, instrucctions to crack or update cable's firmware and other similar topics have been erased from the post. Who? I suppose adminitrators. Why? read forum rules update

but still you can find a lot of information here - also dumps for 908, 805.

therefore to make your life easy !!!! instead of search into entire topic you can just click on the attached icon on the forum section - to see all attached document.

links are deleted if the content violets the rules. (rules are rules everywhere)

It's not the better solution, but it works for me up to now. I tried autoscan and work ok. I think the date is a problem try a date near 29th May. But firstly unisntall all VDCS versions and driver, run FTclean, then reinstall VCDS10.6 completely, drivers included, then install VCDS 11.2 beta only without drivers. This procedure is applicable to my case beacuse, I don't know way, VCDS11.2's drivers don't recognize my VAG106 chinese cable with ft232RL.

The reason moderators deleted the old VCDS thread was because some DK members were developing tools and sharing their know-how for free with everyone...

But some guys were selling those free solutions and IMO moderators did the right thing when they deleted the old thread.

But... now.... they are not sharing anything with us... or are they? I don't think so!!!

I just find here solutions and files from other member and even links for other foruns.

Rules are rules and I am not breaking those rules... but what's the problem if I share a tool or a dump that I own in here? If I don't share here I can share it anyone else.... for free.

Is it because copyrights? But aren't dreamboxes illegal too? I don't think that it's legal to point an antenna to a satellite and decrypt signals.

VCDS->Test. If fw is older, the VCDS say that and make fw update. That because exist a bootloader in the flash (i suppose at 3E00 address (BL have 512 bytes, from the BOOTSZ1 = 1 BOOTSZ0=0.).

Ok, it is possible or exist SW for use that bootloader and make the fw / eprom writing on usb cable, without ponyprog or other ISP?

Yes, it's possible to upgrade FLASH without ponyprog or other ICSP. Lot's of DK members have done that and it's a very simple procedure.

I am not sure if EEPROM is also possible but I believe that it is.

Bootloader writes down only in Flash. And the program, which is written down inside Flash (not Bootloader), can change EEPROM.

hey guys
i got a question for you experts:
after a friend done service reset on Passat 2007, dash shows this:
"trAxxx" without quotes of course!:P
and "xxx" are last digits of the mileage!

Mileage was not altered!No errors on dash or dead fuses!
Entire value can be seen using vcds! dash and ecu!

any ideas? how to fix this!?

It's necessary for betas, they run out. The latest non-beta (10.6.4) should work (maybe with a nag-screen "outdated, please update"). I haven't tried out yet, so this is my guess.

I guess most interfaces are from china. The quality differs (soldering, components), but "crappy" often means newer
interfaces with ft232rl on it or with write protection chips. It is harder to upgrade them. Interfaces with ft232bm/bl are easier, they were used up to version 805.
If you wanna diy just look out for shematic with ft232bm on it.

Thank you for the detailed information paro44, I now have a better understanding of how things are.

My preference is to buy a ready made clone as I don't really want to take the time sourcing the parts or making a board and so on.

Are you or anyone else able to recommend a reputable seller for a "quality" 805 clone interface?

I'm not particularly concerned about having the latest software and firmware builds. I'd much rather have an earlier release version of VCDS which can be relied upon.

Why bother releasing a new beta just for block the interface? You can still use the last stable version without time limit (10.6.4)

Secondly, if you really wanna use 11.2 you can change date, run a setup date launcher, or even modding the .exe to remove the time limit.

So, IMO... the release was not just for banning 11.2 but to bring and test new functionalities

Yes, you can upgrade to newer versions. But BL or BM versions are easier to upgrade than RL versions.

So, buy a VCDS with a FTDI232BL or BM

I have a cable which came with the VAG-COM 409 software. It only has two ICs: a LM393 (Voltage comparator), and the FTDI FT232BL. I took a picture of it. The LM393 is soldered on the other side.

I read that with this cable, I'll only be able to use VAG-COM 409 and VCDS Lite. Is that correct? I got both softwares cracked just to see how they go, and everything seems to be fine.

But what I'm realising from the posts is that there is another kinf of cable, with a little more hardware on it (like a CAN module), and that Ross Tech is blocking some features in their software via FIRMWARE. Is that why people are reflashing their units: so they can run newer software versions with all the features unlocked??

If so, what kind of cable should I look for in ebay ? One that comes with a VCDS software? And then I follow the tutorials to reprogram it?

Another question: is there any way to reprogram the injection tables of a VW? (without speding a lot of money, of course!). I have a 2001 mk4 golf, with 266 thousand Km, and want to play with it a bit =D And my friend has a Passat B3, 1996.
