Default 04-09 Toyota Prius - is it possible to program spare used smart key?

I know it's easy to program one used smart key (Keyless Go) to the Prius after smart box reset.
What if customer already has working smart key and wants spare smart key, but I only have used key on hand?

After smart box reset it becomes "new" and accepts any smart key, including used key. I'm programming customer's key back to the car - success.
But now smart box not in "new" state anymore. Will it accept another used key?
Or can this be done at all?

That’s a yes to both system (Smart chrome logo with black button on driver door or non smart black logo) inside the case is a stand alone wedge chip that does not lock up. Make it reusable but hard to find as oem. Ilco makes a non smart version .. most common problem is your panic button sticking on wearing the battery.

I'm not talking about chip - yes, of course chip is reusable. I'm talking about smart portion of smart key (car with Keyless Go).

I made a smart ecu box for the virgin eeprom 93c76, synchronized with the immobox, added 1 used key and when I try to add a second one, the car does not accept it, I had the same situation, an attempt to restart via obd2 ends without communication.

First virginise remote key and reset smart box then you need 2 keys to programme.
Tools owned: Hammer, Chisel, Crowbar, Punch, Chainsaw, Cutter and Brain!!!

Did you know People will question all the good things they hear about you but believe all the bad without a second thought.

As far as I know there's no way to virginise 04-09 Prius smart key. Did anyone try do smart box reset, then program used key from other car, and THEN try to program original used smart key which belongs to this car? May be this way it can be accepted?

For the USA market they are fully reusable.. But we can also do these via obd2 it a 2 part. One reset the immo we use the quick reset orange dongle for Toyota. Second we do the proxy and remote section programming. On the non smart Prius without the black button on drives door handle, I do on board programming. (Just like adding a remote)

Here is the virgin file for smart ecu box prius2, please upload the file then program chicken dance remote and keyless functions
I managed to program one smartkey used with another prius, later synchronization with the immo box should be done, I made obdstar x300dp as a toyota crown

Smart box can be reset via OBD, there's no need messing with EEPROM. Smart key (smart portion) itself gets locked to the car, it can be reused but can not be renewed.

The smart section does not lock up… I have done many over my 30 year span. How are you determining the difference between a smart and a non start board? How are you telling the difference between the cars non and smart. On the smart Prius is the button under the steering wheel is push in while programming? Just little something to consider..

Smart key (Keyless go) for 04-09 Prius - different board comparing to semi-smart key, silver logo on the back of the key. This key gets locked, there's ton of information and videos about this on Internet. Locked (used) smart key can only be programmed after smart box reset (brand new smart key doesn't need smart box reset of course). My original question was - is it possible to program TWO used smart keys to the Prius via OBD? So far it looks like this is impossible.

That's exactly what I was trying to find out in my original question. So far it looks like yes, just one used key. Unless someone will tell the way to program two or more used keys.

Maybe exist solution to unlock the key?

I saw few videos that in USA they easy program used keys from scrap yards but never see someone with success in EU so I think that there is some difference on the system EU / USA

I used the manual steps from this video to add a second a Xhorse generated key on a 2005 Prius EU 433mhz with silver logo (meaning it has keyless engine start SKS - no need to plug the key in the slot, like the black logo):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpYD3cqi7iM
Didn't reset anything. There were 2 keys already in the car memory, so the new one is third.
Everything works, except for the proxy door unlock feature (outside door button locking, engine start and remote buttons work).

    Step 1.
This will program the fob to Start/stop engine while it is inserted into the key port.

    1. Get into the car, close and unlock all doors and ensure the car is off
    2. Insert old fob (your fob that currently works) into slot and remove it 4 times in a row, and insert it a fifth time but leave it in there!
    2. Open and close driver door 6 times.
    3. Remove old fob from slot. Car is in fob programming mode at this point. Red anti-theft light remains on.
    4. Insert new fob and leave in the slot for a full minute. Watch the blinking red anti-theft light on the dashboard. When it stops flashing and goes dark, your new fob is all set.
    5. Remove the new fob and you're done with the START/STOP portion of programming

    Step 2
This procedure (steps 1. through 10.) is for chrome logo key fobs and vehicles with SKS functionality

Lock/unlock doors remotely + SMART KEY functionality
    --------------------
    1. Open the driver door and leave it open with no fob in slot (ensure the driver door is unlocked). Other doors can be locked or unlocked, it doesn't matter.
Complete step 2 within 5 seconds
    2. Insert old fob into slot and remove it twice.
Complete steps 3. and 4. within 40 seconds of completing step 2.

    3. Close and open driver door twice.
    4. Insert and remove old fob once.
    Complete steps 5., 6., 7. and 8. within 40 seconds of completing step 4.
    5. Close and open driver door twice again.
    6. Insert old fob in slot and close door.
    7. Without pressing the brake, press power button, wait a second, press it again, wait a second, press it a third time to turn car back off.
    8. Remove old fob from slot. You'll be in "add mode" at this point. Within 3 seconds, the car should lock and unlock doors to verify it is in add mode. (the precise number of times the car locks/unlocks the door is model specific - but it should do it at least once). If it does not cycle the locks, return to step 1. otherwise proceed to step 9.

Steps 9.a. and 9.b. should be started within 40 seconds of completing step 8.
9a: Press and hold the Lock and Unlock key (simultaneously) on the OLD/MASTER fob. (a couple of seconds should pass and the locks will cycle once. If you do not get this cycle, it is likely due to a weak CR 2032 battery in your fob. Replace the battery in your old fob and try again).
9b: Press both the Lock and Unlock key (simultaneously) on the NEW fob. Hold for about 1.5 seconds (several users have reported it being necessary to execute this step twice, if your first go around does not indicate success, try it again and execute this step twice. Please post what worked in the comments below).
9c: Within three seconds, press the lock key on the NEW fob. If successful the lock/unlock will cycle once indicating success (It may take a while for the lock/unlock cycle. I've seen it happen just as I was ready to say, "well, it didn't work". If you wait for a long time (a long time being more than a minute) and get no cycle at all, complete step 10. and test to see if the SKS functions of your new fob work. If they do, pls report that on this thread).
9d. - If you need or want to program another "new" fob, repeat steps 9. a. 9.b. and 9.c. for the next new fob. If done programming fobs, proceed to step 10.
    10. To end this programming, open then close the driver's door or put the fob in the slot.

    Description is taken from PriusChat.com
