But still have much higher coverage than AVDI's new programmer for a fraction of the price... Sad, I really like AVDI and was hoping they would at least provide full coverage.

ok not got this done yet.so my original dash does not power on .my fault because i shorted track when i resoldered it and powered it up i think.i have swapped immo data to another dash and this does still power up.so can sync data still be calculated.as i dont think vvdi prog writes the whole flash. or can sync data be calculated from the donar dash then adapted to ecu. thanks

open VVDi Prog and read cluster to see in LOG on the bottom , or simple talk with seller to confirm

all can be do from vvdi2
only need get synch data after you provide LOG to 3rd part service
once you contact this guy he will explain you how / what to read

In that case this option is cheap

I was thinking maybe all data is in a way crypted and always need to buy it encrypted also for Odo purposes.

Well yes, the whole dump is crypted and the processors are locked. But for ODO you don't need sync data. The servers of VVDI/AVDI and the other tools decrypt the dash/immo data but they cannot get the sync data which is only stored in the working key. So currently you have one option to get the SYNC data (when key is missing) - use paid service to get it from VAG server. Soon there may be a second option - to generate the SYNC yourself by reading all the computer modules in the car (ECU, DASH, ELV, Transmission...) but for the moment there's no tool which can read the ELV if fitted.
