Skoda Fabia mk1 Instrument cluster / Immo

has anyone had any luck reading the SKC or dumping the eeprom from a skoda fabia mk1 instrument cluster?

This is a VDO cluster but has no direct k-line interface (it is interfaced with can-bus via a concentrator).

via the obd2 port i've tried

kw1281test - unable to unlock the eeprom for reading as it does not have the correct seed key alg
vag k-commander - can read a small amount of the eeprom but fails after 0x48

I'm using an FTDI based interface.

any tips would be appreciated - likewise any hints at the right algorithm for the seed challenge/response.

Why not try to read eep direct?

Prosaically because at the moment I'm in the UK (where the car is) and my electronics bench is in France!

I took the cluster to bits today and could not see any eeprom chip on the back side of the board. Access to the front is severely impeded by the dials. No clear way to take them off without making a mess.

No sure 100% about kLine but there is none showing on the pinout
