Default VCDS - VW Caddy Van - Injector Coding?

Recently I changed a piezo injector on my friends WV caddy 1.6 diesel van because it had failed. I got a reconditioned one from the net and it works but it needs coded into the van. Also the other injectors don't match up with the codes that are shown in VCDS.

    I have the following:
    Windows 10 - 64 bit
    VCDS 19.6.0 - (Kolimer) loader x86 9.2
    HEX V2 - (Atmega 162 chip)

In VCDS I am able to clear faults and read values so I assume the cable is fine and I am using the correct loader + VCDS version for the loader. I have tried the following.

Turn engine off, ignition on - load VCDS and it detects the VIN etc. So communication seems OK.
In the secturity page I enter the code - 27971, and this seems to be accepted.

On top of the injector no 1 - I see this code:

In VCDS I try to write the new injector code:

I have tried the following as the code on the injector is one digit too small - so I tried adding a zero or letter O to the start or end of the injector code.
    A9FFGK0, 0A9FFGK, A9FFGKO, OA9FFGK

I always seem to get this error and am unable to save the injector code.

Does anyone have any ideo on what I am doing wrong, this is the first time I have used VCDS as I don't own a VW myself and am assuming I am using the correct injector code and trying to code correctly.

Also this it the output from checking the hex-v2 firmware:
    Code:
    VID / PID : 0403 / FA24
    FT Serial : RT000001
    FT Description : Ross-Tech HEX-USB
    FT Chip ID : 0x9145BC73
    FW Version : 1.96
    HW Version : 0x46
    Identification : ROSSTECH
    SN : 0x00C65E440009
    Language : English only
    Bootloader : Enabled
So it seems it has the latest firmware if that info is needed.

OK, I eventually got the injector coding to work by using VCDS -17.8, so this seems to be a software issue rather than a user error - before I was using 19.6.0. If that's any use to anyone.
