Default VCDS - Injector Fuel Deviation limits?

    Background.

My friends van had a broken injector number 1 so I got a refurb from the net - VW caddy 1.6 (2011).

I knew I needed to code the new injector in so when reading the injector codes stored in the ecu I noticed none of the codes matched up to the injectors so I guess they were swapped out at some point and never coded into the engine, I then coded them in a decided to check the fuel deviation as the van runs like crap.

    This is the Devation results:

Now looking on youtube it seems these need to be between 2.8 and -2.8 to be in an acceptable range, so I assume injector 4 has a worn nozzle...

On trying to carry out deviation correction in VCDS - I get this error:

I am not used to using VCDS as I have not used it before so am unaware of the acceptable limits that the software can "fix" the devaition - is this error because the injector is too far gone now to fixed via software or am I missing something?

I used this guide to try fixing via VCDS:

are you putting in security access before running function? ,,,, before going into engine ,switch of ignition and wait for 1minute ,start engine and enter security access ,then do adaptation, looks like number 3 injector too much fuel, from my past experience better to replace all injectors when they start failing

Yes, I did that procedure. My friend is selling the van so he will not be forking out for a new set of injectors - even for just 1 refurb it cost £160. I'll get him to get another injector and swap out number 4, if that doesn't work - i'll put the injector I took out into number 3 and check again.

    Thanks for the replies.

smokin66 he is right, it is good to replace 4 new injectors, assuming used ones is pointless waste of your precious time

Thank for replying, as I already stated, he just wants to sell the van so wants it running - there's no way he is going to fork out for 4 new oem injectors which would cost around £1.5 k just for those alone. I've just put a refurb in cylinder one and that one seems fine for now, once I change out #4 it should get that van into a reasonable state for selling and the new owner can put in new injectors if they want.

I have a question about these deviation numbers.

Does a high + number indicate worn nozzles and too much diesel is being injected - or does it mean the nozzle is blocked and not enough diesel is being injected?
