Default 2017 Yamaha MT10 SP Speedo - Finding the 93C86 to program odometer

Hi people, noob here, first post, trying to get into EEPROM programming to change klm on the ODO of my 2017 Yamaha MT10 SP.

The chips on this board have a protective coating over them so I can not read the chips, does it look like this is the 93C86 chip?

There is another board that has 2 x SOIC 8 chips but I am not sure they are what I am looking for?

I have ordered a basic EEPROM reader with a SOIC 8 jumper cable and adaptors to put the unsoldered chip into so will need to figure out some software to run that, ideally MACOS.

Is there a change that the 93C86 can be read in place on the board without having to unsolder or is that not possible?

    Thanks in advance

clean protective layer, or the unsolder c66 or 86 is read and published

Thanks for your reply, I will try to clean the layer. Does it look like the 93C86 chip is the one circled in the 2nd picture?

I have removed the protective layer of the chips, this is what is under the Red circle chip:

There is a smaller SOIC8 package on the right wide of the ECU:

Chip is called RH862MM (I can not upload and more pics to this post.)

On another board on the speedo there are 2 x SOIC8 chips.

I think it's this chip(93cxxx), and next to it are the solder pins, you can read the chip's data on the circuit.

Oh wow, thanks. That chip is marked as RH862MM, does that sound right? I do not have a hex reader yet but when I do I presume I have to tell it which chip I am reading?

Thats great info thanks fr the confirmation.

So I should be able to solder wires to those pads, power the speedo up and read the ODO HEX values from the 93c86 chip?

Can i then reprogram new HEX values into that chip or will I need to unsolder it to reprogram it?
