    Hi
    Disconnect battery.
On diagnostic socket, try to read resistance with digital multimeter, between 6 and 14 pins (can lines).Must read 55-65 Ohm if can lines ok.

Think the ecm on these is just behind the bumper on the n/s in england that is, and the plugs get full of water as does the loom underneath the covering of loom and corrodes.

On these CAN cars, with CAN problems, do a global test clear all codes and the unit which has the most codes return is USUALLY the faulty unit m8. Learnt this on vectra c what had a CIM problem on opels the CIM unit is the CAN gateway m8.

check can network, should be 60 ohm if ok across can h and can L. if broken circuit, will be 120 ohm. will also get 2.5v can h to earth & 2.5v can L to earth- will determine which side is broken

intresting reading that pdf. why do i think that ive got a expensive repair on my hands here, but i stick it out im sure that makers are geting far far too technical for thier own good ie: relying far too much on computers to run the car even main dealers dont know what there doing now by what iv read its a case of replace and see what happens with the poor punter paying the cost

the ecm is usually behind the plastic arch liner of the n/s/f wheel, below the fusebox which is also an active controller on the canbus (H,M and L). Bothof which along with the CIM have to be coded including VIN and PIN as a matched set to properly function.
Water in the "underbonnet module"(fusebox) may cause your faults.
You can connect directly to the modules with diagnostic tools on the bench.

disconnect all non essential controllers and attempt to find the area of canbus causing the fault.

you may find the ecm number is 0281012694
