Default Fiat Ducato dash disable GSI (Gear selector indicator) / Shift light

    Hello all,

I would love to find a solution to disable the gear selector indicator on Fiat Ducato 2014-2019 models, cluster model 1387182080, LCD COG-VLIT1595-01.
I think the info to the LCD comes from the 95160 eeprom, maybe there is a way to not send that info to the LCD?
Or maybe there is another solution for it? With the robotised gearbox this doesn't appear (offcourse).
Most experts I contacted here are not able to make it go away. And unfortunately I can't stand it telling me when to engage which gear...

The picture shows what I'm talking about, there is also an up arrow above the shift word too, which needs to disapear too.

you have to deprogram it from the car, there is no other way

    Hello Kiszka,

Thanks for thinking to find a way. By deprogramming you mean, eliminating it's function in the Body computer?
That might be a bridge to far for my (current) knowledge.
If someone would/could help me with that that would be fantastic!

So far I have tried a different LCD (from an older model with the same connector and dimensions) but that didn’t work at all.
I discovered that the complete LCD is fed by the 95160 eeprom and that can be reprogrammed to add or subtract certain functions of the LCD.
Unfortunately I haven’t got the hex .bin file figured out (yet), but my guess is that it might be possible to block the signal coming from the body computer (which I think is the one that activates the signal) in the eeprom.
Off course this is a lot of guessing and maybe something that nobody ever tried eliminating (but it drives me crazy to see the flashing arrows).
I have covered it of inside the light box (which illuminates the LCD from underneath)
I even tried fitting an extra cross fitted filter so no signal could pass the LCD but that wasn’t giving the result I am looking for.
I haven’t explored the files stored in the body computer yet, but if that could be the way to go, I’m more then happy to try!

    Any pointers are greatly appreciated!!

    Hello!
If the one with ECU SID208 100% this adaptation is in it. I changed without cloning and one had this function and the other did not.

    Galov,

Thanks for this pointer. I'll have to check the ECU type and post here later. This can be changed via OBD I think?

THank you all for the help!!

    Hello everyone,

I found out that touching the clutch pedal removes the signal on the lcd.
I tried riding the van with the clutch switch in the clutch pressed position and indeed the signal to shift was gone.
    Unfortunately so was the CC.
Apart from that the car was reacting differently to trottle response, much more sensitive. Also when releasing the pedal the revs keep up for a split second.
Anyway, not very interesting for my issue, but maybe it can help someone else when he discovers these symptoms to check the clutch switch.

For my issue, I was wondering if it is possible to alter the ECU software to, lets say, make the cruise work without the clutch contact or something similar?

All I could find was altering the software for power issues (which is not what I need).
Is the software readable? Can you alter certain small things?
Or is this a reverse engineering job?

Off course changing the dash could be an option, but how is this “readable” in the .bin file?

    Any help is greatle appreciated!!!

    Hello all,

I was able to fix this issue with a lot of trial and error testing.

If someone is trying to do the same I would be glad to share my experience.

Changing the bit 0E0-07 from A7 to 8A does the trick.

Hope this helps someone some day

Does the manually changed .bin file from the dash needs a checksum correction?
If so, how do I go about that?
Or is there someone that can do it for me?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

the problem is not crc, the problem is the coding you did only on the meter

Indeed I only did the meter. I changed the -bin file partly with a bin file file from a automatic gearbox (which off course hasn't got the shift indication) till I figured where the bit was that showed it.
Then I changed the original .bin file (in the dash) with only that bit altered.
Isn't it enough to "block" it in the meter, or wil the ECU detect that and change the file (I'm ok with rewriting the "altered" .bin file every once and a while), or give an error?
What is the consequence of doing what I did? And how would I (or someone else) be able to fix it?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

your problem will go away forever if you do it with coding I know something about how old coding comes back because I'm currently messing with it
that is, it may or may not return, but you do not know the day or the hour when it will return on its own
