I have a Toyota Celica MK6 (1996) with ECU 86991-2D660, but the ECU is defective. The donor ECU won’t crank the engine due to the immobilizer. Which tool can I use to read and remove the immobilizer?

You must have a tool that can read eeproms. In this car it will be 24c04 or 93c56 chips...as I remember. Maybe carprog is best tool for you.....
PS
There is a lot of tool that can read eeprom and flash but for immo in this car you must correct transponder and carprog can do this job. Good luck

Man, that is the correct chips for reading with tool. But you must remember that Toyota immo is very hard to do....very often it is impossible. This chip marks, on your picture is different from what I said but that is the eeproms for what youu need tool. All of these eeprom chips can work with one good tool (programmer). You must investigate in which of these chips is immo data....

In this particular ECU, disabling the immo will be exceptionally difficult... because it was never there.

That explains a lot, but what should be the issue then.
I swapped 1.8L 7A-FE (1994, no immobilizer) for a 2.0L 3S-GE (1996, with immobilizer) and transferred the wiring harness.
- With the original 3S-GE ECU, the engine runs perfectly but shuts off after 5 seconds due to the immobilizer.
- With a 1994 MR2 ECU (no immobilizer), the engine runs poorly, likely due to differences in engine management.
- I tried swapping the immobilizer system (key, ring, module) from the donor car, but it didn’t work.
I’ve checked all wiring and schematics, and the issue seems to be the ECU and immobilizer. What could be the solution then if there's no immo?
the first 3S-GE had no immo.
if this one really has it - maybe I can do something to unlock this ECU... but I need to see the diagrams to confirm, the real ECU numbers are :
89661-20660 ?

In the case of such old ECUs with locked old processors, the only option to unlock is an emulator - but if you have the keys and immo from the set - it should start.

Emulator for this ECU only on order, it is not a standard product.
