INSITE has detected the following ECM(s) are ROM-booted:
    ECM-B[7]

Please recalibrate the ROM-booted ECM(s). If the problem persists, please record the error number and contact the local distributor.

The issue here is that the ECM do not have data plate and Insite reads the ECM as part number 3617033, which is not in celect ECMs part numbers. (I'm using a bench harness)

Any ideas on how to recalibrate it?
    Hi m8
just calibrate the ECM like you would normally do using insite and after you complete the procedure the ECM will be servicable once again. Just make sure you use the correct part number to avoid damaging the unit.

Sorry m8 just read the last part of your Post and didn't realise your predicament let me come back to you on this one.

    Hi m8
Whilst connected to the ecm using insite start a calibration download to the ECM then when the program is round 60% or so disconnect the datalink connections to the ECM and this should place it in a rom boot state.

    Hi m8

Read through page 36 of this thread and you should find a solution there.

    Hi m8.
Like I said in 1 of the above posts just recalibrate your ECM and it should revert back to its normal state. I am assuming that you mean that it is rom-booted when you say it is BLOCKED.

anyone know how to program microcontrollers?

not clear the fault code 111

    any solution?

    Hi M8

Rom boot your ECM and then recalibrate using insite or calterm and that should solve your problem.
You can Rom boot it either by using the Rom boot cable as described in this thread or using Calterm.

    Donniemnemonic.
Thanks Donniemnemonic, for you responce. I have tried several times to calibratre ECMs in rom boot state with this foult code but so far any has not taking the calibration. I'm using a rom boot cable, to put the ECM in rom boot state, then Insite detect it as such, then says something that the ECM needs to be calibrated. Then, I start the calibration process but the process suddenly stops without completing.
I hope that someone can share it's knowledge (and time) in a tutorial or photos with a description on how to troubleshoot, identify components and fix this ECMs. Maybe I'm asking for too much... I just hope some of gurus here in DK can help us.

    thanks, regards...

    Hi m8
What error codes are you getting when the process stops because sometimes it may take a bit of time and will seem like nothing is happening.Have managed to repair quite a few of these this way after been helped by Jctech.

If the ECM has active fault code 111, the ECM is dead. Maybe you can recalibrate and re write the memory, but no guarantee. Replace the microprocessor, or buy a ReCon ECM

If the ECM has inactive fault code 111, only a few counts, then the ECM is OK. If the ECM has a lot of inactive fault code 111, try to recalibrate and rewrite the memory, no guarantee.

Fault code 111 is a fault with the microprocessor and memory locations.
If the recalibration fails half way, it may be that Insite cannot write to some of the memory locations in the ECM. That is why the ECM had fault code 111 in the first place

Sorry for the delay, here are the screen shots with an ECM with fault code 111, and the error when trying to recalibrate it.

Thanks jctech, then I need to change the microprocessor and the memories at the same time?
How to troubleshoot what I need to change?

    regards...

I am trying to build a bench cable for a cummins 3963994 ecm. This is on a dodge isb 2003 common rail.I cannot even find out what model ecm it is.I need to know if there is a j1939 line on this ecm and if so,anyone has a wiring diagram for it.It has 50 pin and a 60 pin connector.Any input would be great! Thanks!
