Default Vectra stiff gear change when warm.

My Vectra has suddenly developed a strange fault, basically when at running temperature the gear change becomes very stiff i.e the gear lever doesn't return to the neutral position when i've droppped out of 1st, 2nd, 5th or 6th. It is the F40 6 speed manual box, and so far I have changed the gearbox oil (putting in th reduced amount recommended by TIS) and the gear linkage cables. My next option is to remove and grease the gear selector shaft, which looking at TIS looks quite an easy task. Has anybody else undertaken this and what grease would you recommend me to use?

The linkage cables are adjusted correctly, there's no issue of selecting a gear (no notchiness) it's just stiffness in the movement of the lever and the lever returning to neutral once at running temperature (again no issue when cold).

Nothing at all on the plug, and the oil was spot on for the original spec, however when refilling i put the revised amount in which definately made the gear change smoother. The gear selector according to tis is just a case of removing three bolts and tilting it to the left to remove, is it really that easy?

Was the selector part easy to remove? My only worry is that I remove it and discover I can't get it back in.

The F40 6 speed suffers from syncro problems with 3.2 ltrs so vx recommend you only put in 2.4 ltrs. This correct from the VX tis.

Can anybody recommend the best type of grease to lubricate the selector once I have removed it and cleaned it up.
