How to update tomtom navcore and map for first timers
Things you need to do before update
Always backup your tomtom first to your pc, using windows exployer, copy and paste.
connect tomtom to pc start exployer navigate to your tomtom drive which should show
up as a removable drive and copy all files on your tomtom to a folder on your pc mybe
called tomtom backup.
Or better still buy a new sd card 4 gig and format it to fat32.then copy tomtom sd card files to new sd card.
i would try all updates without updating bootlader first.
To run bigger sd cards you will need - full support for SDHC on all Tomtom
models, also needed to use Navcore 8.412 and 8.410
Bootloader_5.5122.rar
copy the file system to tomtom.make sure your battery is fully charged, tomtom will
restart twice, bootloader updated
Lets say we are going to update a tomtom 1
The first thing we need to do is delete the old map folder from your tomtom.
you can leave your navcore alone or install a newer navcore to get alg the choice is yours, navcores 7.903 and lower don't support alg, if you want to keep your official navcore/app then miss out 1.
1/ download your navcore/app which would be 8.410 from SE__Navcore.8.410.1218.Basicpack.rar
unzip the file and copy the files within the folder to your tomtom, overwriting any files if asked.
restart tomtom once to create ttgo file.
connect tomtom to pc again.
2/download the map of your choice, lets say United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_865.3245
from link- United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_865.3245.pa rt1.rar
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_865.3245.pa rt2.rar
unzip the 2 files by clicking unzip on the 2rd file and you should see a file called 860.3101,
within that folder you should have a folder called United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_860.3101
copy that folder to your tomtom.

After you have updated your map, you will need to update your postcode file, if you want the latest postcodes.
the folder for your postcodes is called ZIP which is in the root of your tomtom.
the latest maps are ver 880 so the latest postcodes are 880zip, which you can get from here.
Digital Kaos - Downloads - 880zip

unzip file and copy zip folder to tomtom root, replacing any folders
advice
where ever you get your maps from always check map comparability chart so you get the correct map for your navcore
3/ download speed cams from http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ularly-257126/

4/ download fast activate http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ate-2013-2511/
read instructions.copy fast activate.exe to your tomtom, then while still connected to pc run fastactivate from tomtom
click on update meta.txt tab, when updated, then click maps/speedcams tab to patch maps and speed cams.

advice
The navcore i used in this Tutorial is a se navcore which is already patched ,but if you use a different navcore you will
need to patch ttsystem using fast activate
if you need advice in the forum,it is always best to post your device info.
you can do this in 3 ways
1/ connect tomtom to pc, open windows explorer, navigate to removeable drive of your tomtom.right click ttgo file in root of tomtom,
properties, type of file , click change and open in notepad then post info from file, don't post DeviceSerialNumber= or
DeviceUniqueID.
2/ tap bottom right on tomtom then, tap version for info
3/ go to main menu page 3 and tap status & info tab, then version info.
