Might wanna look fot the circuits of cam- and crank sensor. Do you get rpm reading on scanner while cranking?

Thanks for quick reply mates I have been told bad news from an electronic tester he did a quick text, it?s the ECU, this person connected live wire from sensor coming from ECU and the car started but I need an ECU he told me being an old car go to the scrap yard and get the ECU kit the kit includes the ECU, immo box, new keys with ignition lock the cheep way to solve the problem. Any with a better idea to save money I will be very great full otherwise off to scrap yard in the morning.

    Hi

If his 100% sure its the ECU at fault than also I think going to scrap yard is the best and cheap option for you.

did you look to see if timing chain was slack due to a bad or stretched timing chain
what engine size is this ?

as the 1.8 has vvt so can lock the cam in the advanced position ?

if it the N16 Almera they do suffer from stretch timing chains on the 1.5l and 1.8L petrol ones and also they suffer broken wire problems down by the radiator battery side lower xmember area, very rare to have a ECM go down on one them tho, it is poss to get secondhand ECM coded to your vehicle tho you just have to recode the keys if that is the fault.

My first thoughts would be to remove cover and check to see how much timing chain tensioner is protruding anything above 13mm will give this symptom, although the hotwire fix does tend to suggest ECU fault, if you search for almera non start on dk you will find a thread about similiar where cjawihar posted a quick test to confirm.

HI all, we have just finished fitting timing chain to 2001 Almera 1.5, which had same problems as urs. When chain slackens more than 10mm the ecu picks up the sensors as being faulty. Check That Chain !

I will check the chain too. If the chain is extended as mates told previously, because if it is so then it will be useles changing the entire injection system, you will not solve the problem. If vehicle has more then 100.000 km I will go sure straight on it and check it. Good luck mate.

    Hi good morning all.
Thanks all for the help, I personally thought it was the chain but I did realise that if it would have been the chain the car do start with engine not having the power but this one it just do not have the current coming to the plug leads and the auto electrician checked that it the ECU, any way to cut the storey short I just rang the scrap yard he is asking for the full kit for ?90.00 if I take them out my self, thanks mates I am off to scrap yard not a very bad day today anyway, I will keep you posted what ever happens.

Okay good news, if you have no spark at the spark plugs is because if you have no synchronization then you will not have sparks for sure, neither fuel, no synchronization not spark plugs. Because of misinformation between the sensors thats why it happens. However hope you will resolve the problem. Cheers mate

check all fuse in engine bay , check the positive wire on coil pack , if you dont have power there fuse is damage .

if this fuse is damage disconnect the iac valve and start .
