Security code to reset ecu is same as pin number to program keys so m3m5 is right. You will have to go to dealers with new ecu chassis number and car registration number to get pin code for new ecu:: On some astras I think it's 1.6l you can get a pin code with opcom. Do a search on it it's in garage section. Other than that you will need a dump from immo ring/antenna around ignition switch to get the code. Immo ring has to be from same car new ecu came from.

gregk is correct, go back to scrap yard and get ring from aroun ign lock, read tms and post dump, you will get your code, or....

if its a 1.6cc petrol, you can read pin code from ecu with op com, check for details on lupu sandu's posts.

Also if ecu locked you out you'll need to leave ignition ON any thing from 15min to 24hr for ecu to allow you to put code in again.
Have you got pin code from your original car as well???
If yes you can re-set new ECU providing you have a good pin code for original ecu and new ecu.
I remember having problem reseting my ecu in my astra I had both codes for my car and new ecu but none worked. What I had to do is Virginise my immo ring first , then I had to code immo ring with new ecu's pin only then I could virginise ECU and immo ring. After that I wrote original pin to ECU and immo ring so that I could use my original keys and immo chip. Hope you get what I'm trying to say.

I did have an immo ring with my new ecu so read dump from Tmc chip and got the code. Then programed as above.
