Benz 7G Tronic ETC resetting without AVDI

Hi all

Does anyone know a working solution for resetting or reading out the data from MB's 722.9 7G Tronic ETC units? The one I can experiment with has a MPC555 processor inside, so it's probably made before 2008 I think. I'm interested in any kind of ideas...but solutions for reading via can-bus would be better. Has anyone done this before?
Or does anyone know how to reset the ETC with Star? I have dev mode, looked around in sim already...there are a few options for messing around with the eeprom, but I don't want to mess up an actual working car with this.

Today tried to communicate with the disassembled ETC with Star, but was unsuccessful. Somebody mentioned in another thread that this is possible but I'm starting to doubt it's possible without the car :/

you can make virgin with star but you need scn for recode.

After many hours, managed to communicate with disassembled ETC, and after more hours of messing around in dev mode, changing almost every value there, ETC still says it is already activated....
If anyone would share how to exactly reset it with Star in dev mode, I'd be very grateful....I'd even pay for it, just please share this procedure...

how did you communicate with it on the bench ?? did you go through a Eis and ZGW or another device?

I have done alot of research and haven't found the procedure to renew via Star, a few people have claimed you can but have not show the procedure.

Nope. No need for EIS or ZGW or anything else. Just connect pin 5 of ETC to ground, pin 4 to +12V, pin 1 is Can Hi, pin 2 is Can Low (connect them to Star tester, plus don't forget power supply aswell), and also a 120ohm resistor between Can Hi and Low. Das will complain a LOT about not being able to communicate with EIS or ZGW, but after asking the VIN a lot of times (you better get a valid VIN number ready, and type it for DAS), it lets you communicate.

i wonder how did you connect it to Star diagnosis without ZGW ! maybe you using VGN2 ? because VGN3 connect to Star diagnosis with CAN D . to reset the board you need Mongoose and it works onlt with VGN2 .

I confirm. This TCU works at the table without ZGW. You can diagnose this unit via X431, Star or any other scanner.

To ACDC: You can't add used TCU via STAR. Only in virgin status. And online SCN coding is needed after TCU replacement in any case. I think, you won't find free solution for virgin.
I know one guy, which can do reset of this units via Star (this is his biggest secret-). I think, he knows, where is located `write enable` point on ceramic board and he knows when at the right time to connect this pin to voltage (or GND) and to begin programming of used TCU through online.

I have some similar used ECUs and i have read from it eeprom in scheme (need to open metallic cover from unit with electrical cutter for this). I tried to write changed eeprom with different algorithms several times, but this don't bring wanted results. I want to try to make renew, as that guy, but i don't have access to MB online.

I see. So you need to do a certain connection on the hardware aswell to reprogram with Star. But someone said it is possible with DAS Dev mode, that's why I thought it would be possible...but it's starting to look like that's not the case.
As for reprogramming through PCB: I have disassembled the control unit aswell, only mine is of the other version (before 2008 I think? see attachment, mine has exactly the same part number), which doesn't have that eeprom yet. So I'm guessing that probably only way to reprogram it this is way is to use jtag or bdm or whatever method this controller uses. Only question is how to connect with it?
Other question is: for how much money would your friend share his secret?
