Default Problem with seat alhambra 1.9tdi

I was driving it the other day and it started spluttering and then just cut out. Then the coil light on the dash started flashing. I had just put some redex in the tank when I filled up, so I was thinking maybe the fuel filter was blocked. So I changed the fuel filter, then filled the fuel filter with diesel to prime it. Then the vehicle started up but then cut out after all the fuel from the filter had been used..

So what could be the problem?? It seams like there is no fuel coming from the tank.

can you pump fuel up,if you only get air would suggest an air leak/fracture in not supplying fuel, strainer in tank blocked due to bad fuel.

Checked and cleaned fuel sender in tank, how does the sender work as it is electronic. Could this be the problem? How can i check to see if this is working.

WHOA - the sender ONLY does the fuel gauge.

When you had it out, was there a funky pump?

For a VW to flash glow worm light is is a 'serious' problem.

    plug a computer in next.

First connect a computer and and read dtc
What year of car? Bosch pump or PPD?
If car after 2000 y you must check fuel pressure after filter -0.8-0.9 bar If pressure ok -you have problem with pumpe duse
better to buy 1 used and replace one after other
If car before 2000 y -better to buy used bosch pump and replace

    Sorry year is 2002..
It started when I filled the fuel filter with diesel but cut out after it was used, so does that not mean the fuel pump is working as it needs to pump it to the injectors?

Right checked the fuel pump and sender in the fuel tank with a meter and there is no currant going to the fuel pump, so does that mean the relay as gone??
