    1. Drivers door open - leave open.
    2. Ign. ON. - Use RED key only.
    3. Radio ON.
    4. Press and hold presets 1, 3 and 6.
    5. Ign. OFF then back ON within 1 second.
    6. Release presets 1, 3 and 6.
    7. Radio OFF.
    8. Ign. OFF.

Repeat the above the same number of times that is showing on the display when jou started. i.e: 10 or 13.

Tried that a couple of times but no success. Just to be sure, which one is the RED key? I've used all three keys I've got.

    Ford 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000.

The official line is - straight from October update of FORD TIS.

    1. Drivers door open - leave open.
    2. Ign. ON. - Use RED key only.
    3. Radio ON.
    4. Press and hold presets 1, 3 and 6.
    5. Ign. OFF then back ON within 1 second.
    6. Release presets 1, 3 and 6.
    7. Radio OFF.
    8. Ign. OFF.

Repeat the above the same number of times that is showing on the display when you started. i.e: 10 or 13.

Please Note that this method will not work with American FIC sets.

Red keys are primarily used to program the ECU to accept new signals

It is usually not beautiful key without any knobs, etc.

Do you have a picture of the red key? Is it supplied with the vehicle? I have Ford IDS, do you think re programing the ecu will change anything?

No I think you're mistaken here, all the keys that accompanied
the vehicle has that red marking indicating its a 4C keys and the blue ones are 4D.

From Adams post, I understand red keys o ly come with Ford pre 98 and this particular Ford doesn't have the red color key.

Now that it's established that the vehicle does not have a red key, what is next?

set ignition to position one, (not switched on) press and hold number 6 on the radio, it will give you one more attempt but make sure the code is right this time of it will be locked completly, if this dosnt work do the same as above except hold number 2 , it veries for different radios,,, hope this helps
