BMW Scanner 1.4 "factory defaults" function for cluster VIN change

Hello to all

I received my used motometer gauge cluster earlier today. This is the same exact BMW part number as the one originally on the car

I have tried to write the VIN with BMW Scanner but it requests to use the "factory defaults" and then write VIN but this option is greyed out and i cannot select it

I had no problems setting the mileage to the exact kilometers as those registered on the light module but cannot write the vin.

How can this be corrected?

I also tried coding data-recoding but it recodes the old vin and not my car's VIN

Thank you so much!!!! That took care of the problem. I did the EWS-IKE and it set my cars information to the cluster. Then i added my vin number with bmw scanner as well!!!!

How to wright vin with bmw scan?

I entered into the EWS and selected the coding option EWS-IKE

When i went back to the main screen i could see my ZCS information was written to the cluster

Then i went into IKE-Programming- write FGSTNR and then entered the last 7 of my VIN and done. Tamper light gone and all is normal

EWS has the necessary information. That is what the thread you sent me indicated

I did it and works perfectly. I used a donor cluster with the same exact part number and year of my car

Also i noticed bmw scanner has a cluster part number compatible list and mine was there

Sorry but i read again post that i give you
Look!!!
you go with that v1.40 pa soft to "IKE"
then to "coding"
then you see "list" from "IKE - EWS" and some "EWS to IKE" and some more items.....
choose the "ews to ike" menu (not the other)
then it does automatic the coding
done


now you will see also ion "car identification" the info filed is not RED color anymore which means its now adapted to the car

So instruction says go to ike then coding then ews-ike right?
you say you went to ews module then coding
then ews to ike?
so how to do it right i have to enter in to ews or ike
to code ews-ike?

Here is what i did

I opened up bmw scanner software

Then i went into EWS and selected EWS-IKE

I then went to the main screen where the vehicle IKE/EWS data is and the ZCS was that of my car and the 328ci chassis code too

Then i went into IKE-Programming-write FGSTNR and entered the last 7 of my vin and it started to process and done. When i looked at the upper right hand corner of the bmw scanner software i saw MY VIN!!!!!!!!

Here is the correct sequence:


EWS-Reprogramming-Copy ZCS/FA coding

Then you will see

IKE to EWS
EWS to IKE

Select EWS to IKE

After i did this, i went to

IKE-Reprogramming-Write FGSTNR
Then i entered the last 7 of my vin and it was done
