UPA USB error 997

I am trying out my new upa programmer 1.3 original but cannot get it to work.Everytime I try to read the chip it comes up with error 997 and even if there is no chip connected to the programmer the result is the same.My system is Windows XP and I searched for something simmilar on the web but nothing to that effect.Can somebody give me some pointers please

I had same error today,try with another USB cable ,it worked for me

the version of your upa usb ? i have upa usb v1.3 install video, but it is too big to upload here. sorry.
may be your can change a new usb cable. or check the usb driver of your computer again. ..

Big Thank you it was the usb cable for me too... I was searching very long time for solving System error 31 and 997 problem!!!
