    Default Galletto 1260

    Hello to all

I tried reading my ecu with the Galletto 1260 clone and get an impossible to open port message. I went ahead and updated the FTDI drivers with the latest drivers on the FTDI site. Tried reading again and it still cannot open the port. I have disactivated my antivirus/firewall and am using Windows XP Professional.

    What else can i try?

    Regards,
    Mark

No. So do i have to copy/paste the files into the galletto Drivers_EOBD2_2x_XP folder from the galletto directory? Should i then just erased the original drivers in that folder and then copy the new ones? Do i copy the entire CDM 20808 folder into galletto? Can you elaborate on the second procedure you mention regarding going to devices and printers as i am confused.

    Mark

You can't change port in Galletto software. Use only software from included CD, they have correct setinngs for THIS galletto. Driver can from ftdi site.

i found the cd drivers to be useless and downloaded the latest one from ftdi but in order to make it use the new driver you have to copy/paste in to galletto directory. then start menu-devices and printers(with galletto in usb) right click eobd-properties-advanced settings-drivers-and then update driver-

I unistalled it again and tried to manually install the drivers from the CD and windows says "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware? And i am 100% sure i selected drive D where i have the CD inserted.

I have tried to manually install the drivers off of the CD that came with the Galletto, but i get the message that the specified location does not contain information about your hardware. I just installed my external CD/DVD drive and put the cd in there and tried again but i get the same message.

Here are two snapshots, one is the file folder of the cd contents and the other is the folder for the drivers on the cd.

if you copy/paste the entire CDM 20808 folder into galletto directory as an additional file(not into existing driver file). Then bring up the eobd properties and update driver through this choosing to manually select the file to update from

I have also tried that and still the same error. I went back into device manager and tried to update the driver of the Galletto using the CD it came with and windows does not allow it saying what i have posted previously that it cannot find a better match for this device.

I tried it with both firewall/antivirus deactivated and still the same error. On the Galletto itself when i connect it to the round OBD connector, the red light of the Galletto turns on but that is just about it.

The serial to usb adapter i use for the round connector to function with my laptop to access INPA/DIS/SSS is FTDI driver version 1.0.2154.0 dated 4/16/2004 and when i connect the Galletto to my laptop, that is the FTDI drivers its using. Can it be possible that maybe this is causing problems with the Galletto being able to connect?

I managed to get it working. It was necessary for me to delete the FTDI drivers i was using for the Serial to usb adapter for the round plug i use for INPA/SSS/DIS. I then went ahead and reconnected the Galletto and it automatically asked for the software disk. I pointed it into the folder i have from the CD software that came with the Galletto and it finished installing.

I went ahead to read the ecu after selecting the vehicle and it read it 100%. File was saved and was able to see it in WinOLS.

It looks good in WinOLS, but just want to be sure. The Galletto software worked flawlessly without any errors and the read time was very fast.

How can i setup Windows XP so that i do not have to be deleting/installing drivers on a constant basis when i use either application, be it Galletto or the BMW diagnostic software (INPA, DIS, SSS)? Remember the FTDI drivers i deleted are used so that my serial to USB adapter works properly as it always has done with those specific FTDI drivers.

    Mark

I connected my serial to usb adapter onto my laptop, then went -into system-hardware-device manager and then found the com port where my serial to usb adapter is located and right clicked on it and selected uninstall. Then i went into control panel-add remove software and found the FTDI drivers that were installed for the serial to usb adapter. I went ahead and deleted that too. I restarted the computer and connected the galletto to the computer and immediately i was asked for the drivers. I went ahead and found the location of the galletto drivers and it automatically installed them. I went to the car and was very happy to see that i had perfect communication and the Galletto clone worked flawlessly.

By the way, my laptop uses Windows XP.

    Regards,
    Mark
