    Default Citroen C5 key programming

I have a 2002 Citroen C5 with only one remote key.

I bought a used remote key and a blank PCF7936AS ID46 -chip. I'm planning to replace the used transponder chip with the blank one. Then I'll have the blade copied at the local locksmith.

Should I be then able to program that key with Lexia and the 4 digit pin code? So that the car would start and the remote locking works.

No, it won't work. You can program new transponder to the car but the remote will not work because the transponder and remote are interrelated. If you want working remote, you need to buy new remote key.

Damn, I thought those two were separate systems. Well, I guess a working ignition key is better than nothing.

PSA keys are specific. Normally those 2 things are separate systems.

Here's a pic of a similar key. Though I have the open-window button as the lowest one.

I've bought the key and the chip from eBay today for about ?15 (+ new blade and cutting) and the stealership asks for ?110 for a new key. So I think I'll give it a try as I already have the Lexia clone.

Coupling C5 remote keys with new PCF7936 is possible but hard to do.
Specific equipment is needed and it makes sense if you're making a lot of keys, say you're a locksmith.
Otherwise it is only a headache and loss of time.

So I'll just have to be humble and buy a new key... At least I get a spare fob for my existing remote key.

Too bad they don't sell those online for consumers and their shops are a bit too far for me. Does anybody know any shops with same price range and EU shipping?
