Default Audi A4 B7 dEF error cluster

    Hi,

Was called to make a spare key for Audi A4 B7 2005 year. At first I plugged ad100pro and go straight into the key programming but asked for PIN, so I went for pin code reading and no success from ECU. There was no option read from cluster. Then I plugged MVP and went for PIN code reading and (because of ads219 soft) it was an option to read from cluster (RB8 A4), MVP connected and displayed VIN and then after scanning memory for PIN this happened...

Now there is dEF error on cluster like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5jlWFPHcv8 but in place of 'error' I have L4 2-2 and car not start.

What is the solutuion to fix it? AVDI (don't have it) can do this by changing immo status? I read something about this but not sure. Very appreciate any help as this is my first fvcked car : >

avdi can sort this most of the time , though not every time if other equipment caused an issue .

If AD product then contact AD support

Yeah, I heard about this but it always happened when people tried to read PIN when it wasn't necessary. In my case I was asked for pin, so I tried to read it from cluster. It said it might be up to 4 minutes and then scanning memory but after like 20 second, the first screen (up to 4 minutes) appeared and again scanning memory and over and over.

I waited 5 minutes because customer didn't have more time. Next day, I read if I disconnect the tester during that operation or simply lost of power, the problem I have now will happen but I waited 5 minutes to be sure that it is above the expectation. But maybe if I will wait more time it will read that pin or display it can't read...

I don't know if it was normal that the screen was changing from 'up to 4 minutes' and 'scanning' every 20 second. I though normally the first screen should display 1 time and then scanning memory should last till it find or not.

And I'm not sure now if dEF error displayed DURING the pin code read (not after disconnect) but 90% it was like that. For sure there wasn't kilometers. It was like I knew the car will not start...

Anyway, I'm waiting now for a friend with AVDI to come and try to fix it. Hope it will repair this without problem...

Solved with AVDI by changing immo status from 4 to 6.

After that I plugged MVP again and tried to read pin again. Waited 10+ minutes and nothing but the cluster was one time displaying kilometers and the second time with dEF on display. It was changing like every 30 seconds. When I turned IGN OFF while the dash displayed kilometers, everything was fine, no dEF error.

It's like when I was doing it first time, I disconnected tester during the dEF was displayed but now I'm wondering if I would enter pin code reading again, it will be still dEF or it would start to searching and changing views, so then will just turn ignition off with kilometers on and no AVDI needed.

But didn't think about that when all this happens and no time for testing that after all. I'm happy car is a runner again

2 litre petrol, ALT code. Pin code is needed for W F S 3 system, check AD IQ. I said at the beginning that I was asked for PIN code when I went to program keys straight.

If is 2.0 T you have Immo W F S 4 , and not possible do key with Pin. With this system you have to have CS to precode key then add key in Immo .
    Only one I know is 1.8 T with Rb8 has immo W F S 3 .

BTW , for DEF you will need AVDI or Dejavu , other tool I doubt will be able to fix it. In some cases you will have to readopt cluster to car , then program keys. This is not easy fix.

MVP did tell me it was W F S 3... In W F S 4 there is automatic precoding by AD equipment.
