    Default Fiat Panda Power Steering

I feels like the torque sensor is failing or not calibrated on my panda 2009.

It is easier to turn left than right when the car is moving.

I will look at checking with MultiEcuScan. If I cannot reset I will buy a new sensor. Do i need the above tool to calibrate it?

I saw this video that shows calibration - looks straightforward with the tool...

Any advice on what I should try first?

If you have uneven torque like you said put the wheels straight and just do a calibration with the MultiEcuScan with only ignition on.Do this also on CITY.this will balance the torque on right and left.If the MultiEcuScan shows a torque fatal error you buy the torque sensor with the Zero clip in place and you must put it in carefully to be in this position otherwise you won't be able to calibrate it

Yes I saw that MES has a calibration function. I have ordered the coloured adapter leads which I expect to receive today, hopefully.
Any hints on how to carry out the text and calibration with MES? Is it just stationary with wheels forward? I saw on MES that there is a procedure where you need to drive iirc 30kph... what is that about?

No just do the calibration with the wheels straight (ie steering wheel dead straight) ignition on engine off.Just do it in the garage.Do all the calibrations then after test with engine on.Thats it. I have done hundreds like that

    Thanks sunxemx,

The ones that you have done, have some also been the same symptoms as mine, i.e. when driving you feel more resistance turning in one direction than the other?

I was meant to receive the MES adapter leads today but they didnt arrive. Can you tell me where the socket is to plug in the adapter lead?

    thanks again!

    Hi,
with MES or other diag you will not solve the problem,
becouse you can reset only the 'Position' but no torque.
    Hope helped

    Thanks for the replies guys.

The MES adapter cables arrived and i did different diagnostics and resets

Unfortunately it did not change the feeling of the steering.

I reset the torque sensor and position calibration but no difference. The car self centers more when steering right.

With MES I discovered a couple of things:-

    1. the center of the steering position seems to be in the middle of the rack. By going full lock to full lock the 0.0 degrees is in the middle of the full lock.

    2. One of the settings 'current absorbed' shows 'too high'.

Could the 'current absorbed too high' mean the steering self centers more in one direction, or is this a different issue?

    What should I do next?
