Default BMW CCC computer repair help!

    Hi friends,

I have a CCC computer out of a 2006 BMW 325xi. it won't boot at all. Apparently it's common problem with these CCC units (MCGW).

Can one of you share how to repair it? I check inside and cleaned most joints and it didn't help at all. It looks like there are some processors (BGA???) that have 'balls'. Do these need to be reflowed?

    here are some pictures:

    Wow WTF does it do?

start with look for bulged capacitors or just change them, the cover that says heat sink flick it off see if heat marks inside

It's the control unit for navigation, radio, CD etc. All big capacitors look good but I didn't test them. The second picture is with the heat sink cover off. no heat marks anywhere on the board.

Yes, the other side is a BGA chip (under a heat sink cover). Unfortunately I didn't take a picture. I spent some time heating this area. Now that you point this out, I'm going to use my preheater and try to learn how to reball this bga chip.

Good news is you can't kill a dead computer

I'd love to hear tips how to reball this chip!

yes, you have to reball components. I think best way is with infra-red station but haven't tested.
