Default Golf V steering angle sensor problem

when i got this car there were steering light on dashboard, but power steering was working. i dont remember now what faults was in ABS( was 3 month ago), but i tried to do steering angle sensor adaptation. since then, power steering doesnt work anymore (think its in safe mode). i tried to do adaptation again many times, still no success. In ABS i dont have any faults. in steering asistance 2 foults: 02546 - stearing limit stop, no or incorect basic setings/adaptation. and 00778 - steering angle sensor (G85). I put new steering sensor, still the same problem. when i turn ignition on, steering light come red then changes to yellow. i try to do basic setings as rostec instructions. after adapting vcds says OK, but angle always stays 0.00 and doesnt changes when i turn steering wheel both sides and power steering didnt start work. but it was working before i tried adapt it, just light was on and angle was showing 0.00 all the time. any sugestions please?

First of all, I always put car wheels straight and do steering anlge sensor adaptation with VCDS in BASIC SETTING (click ON/OFF). Ignore if steering angle shows 0.00 in MEASUREMENTS. Then drive a car for short distance, . This should get rid of steering angle sensor (G85) DTC.
Then I remove the key from ignition, insert the key and start the engine. Then turn the steering wheel fully to the left a then to the right (you may have to this few times). This procedure should get rid off yellow warning LED in the dash, and the power steering should start working.
It always works for me for VW, Skoda, etc.

I do it always left, then right. As mentioned above, you may have to repeat this cycle few times.

First of all, make sure that you get rid of steering angle sensor DTC. Otherwise you will not be able to complete the adaptation of steering limit stop.

P.S. I am pretty sure that I read or saw it somewhere, that you have to turn the steering wheel to the left and only then to the right. I have never tried other way around.

but how to solve this fault: 00778 - steering angle sensor (G85)? I already changed this sensor for 100% working from other car, still getting this fault.

Do you have any intermittent fault in the abs system.

This is not a steering assist fault
You have problem with one of your abs Sensors/magnet rings....Go into 03 abs, measuring block 001.
Drive the car at steady 10 mph in a straight line, and one of the readings will not be constant, usually
one of the rear sensor rings..... change that bearing assembly,
When the ABS can see all the readings are constant it will allow the ESP to calibrate the steering angle sensor
Then do steering stop calibration,..left lock for 10secs, right lock for 10 secs, back to middle. Key off, ign on for 5 Secs
    Key off.

Check in 03 Brakes- Measuring Blocks 04 -- Ch1 angle should be working
    Job done

    Hope this helps
