    Default problemon my duo2

is anyone with a vu having the same problem as me on a duo2
this is what i get on free to air chns even sky news on thor 1W
the audio at times breaks up badly on this chn also freezes at times
i also get other problems on other sats fta chns i have changed to tuner B
and it still get some problems this is on a 1.2 dish and a 99% signal
i dont think it's a dish/lnb problem as most chns work first class even
on nile sat 7W. i am trying to work out if the tuner is breaking down or
if it could be bad weather in places like europe/norway etc:
i just dont want to buy a tuner if the box is on the way out

a lot of views and no comments, the latest update is
i tried another tuner from a mates duo2 that he did'nt
have the problems i have, the poor audio and freezing
was still there, then we even tested on his dish just the same.
it's smaller than mine but the box did have the problems
on 1w and few other places so now it's either bad weather
in Europe or the box is faulty.

Benny you tried a different receiver than the duo2 on your setup just to check the same frequency's and see if you have the same problem, Possible local interference just happened or the LNB is overloading the tuner on the duo2 due to the high signal

I see you have tried it at friends was it same image settings as his this would more or less confirm box problem if still same. It sounds like the box is starting to have the same problems as the duo had first caps on psu then regulators and caps and then caps for signal fix. The boxes are made well enough but it seems the parts inside only have a certain shelf life.

first thanks for the advice and info from you all
to-day it's not as bad sky news on 1w still getting a bit of
audio distortion and noise the freezing has to-day stopped
i hope it was adverse weather, the box was the same on
every image i test it on, had this been on premium chns on other sat
i would have known the cause, but after all the years iv'e been in this
hobby i have never had a fta chn freeze and lock that needed a boot
to clear. iv'e this genuine duo2 a few years now but i hope i can get
away from buying a new box,

the problem is still on going after many tests and double checking
my dish/lnb/ cables/connectors etc: with a tm5402m3 box everything works first class,
i think this vu after a few years has developed a intermittent problem there is no sign of
damage/burning or bulging capacitors etc:after looking inside. ruled the tuner out as i get
the same problem on both A and B tuners plus the problem is'nt on all sats. i have a friend
who works in electronics and he says he can check the box, and then it's down to is it worth
    getting it repaired.

Sorry to hear that benny as you've said you already checked other equipment and all seems satisfactory. I suppose you already tried and old image to verify it's not image problem.
Are you still having the problems on the same channels or are more starting to fail? Would probably point to capacitor failing as they don't all bulge that's what I call easy find easy fix. Some makes just have a limited shelf life.
Your head is probably done in by now and I know your getting it checked but when you where getting problems was the box on for long if not did you try hairdryer on board to see if anything changed? Yeah I know the old hairdryer and freeze spray trick but sometimes you can find the easy fix.

it's very intermittent some days it's great others it's a bad as ever
i have checked everything and flashed more images in a few days
than i have flashed for years, it's the same on all, but after it's
checked if it's more than a new tuner, needed and costly to sort then
after about three years daily use then i think i will go for the new 4k uno
i'm retired so it's on all day even for local terrestrial channels.

If all else fails and I don't think it will you could try whom you bought it from for a replacement mainboard and see what they can come up with as three years isn't great even though it's out of warranty. I have noticed the boards in 4k models will be even more difficult to sort in future.
