EDC17CP14 read/write over obd2

Hi, I am beginner in this ecu world. I would like to tune my car but i don't know if it is possible over OBD port. found some stuff online that it is possible with mpps V16 clone but I am not sure. I need to buy tool for flashing so this is the reason why I ask, I would like to buy some kind of clone, obvious reason $$$

easy all car with edc17cp14 before 9/2009 you can write over obd no problem . same with softwareupdated ecu the tuning protection is everytime the same.

If I understand from this vcds scan is visible that ecu is flashed 17.09.2014. does that mean tuning protection is on now?? which tool do you recommend to buy ??

look at the car build. is it before 9/09 you can write . the flash date is only last update
car before 9/09 you can write over obd
car before 9/09 with update to 2017 you can write over obd no tp active
car after 09/09 you can read but write is luck :-) only boot is safe or ori tool
best buy kess 5.017 with 2.22 you can do many cars
and a k-tag for tricore

My car is 2008 so it is perfectly safe to read and write...i would like to buy mpps v16 clone because it is cheap and don"t neeed it for other cars just for mine. To sum up things I can buy clone of mpps v16 read and write perfectly safe with it over the obd port ??

Than buy kess v2 with old Firmware its better

You'll only mess something up if your laptop or car battery dies.

To be safe have laptop plugged into mains and if have one to hand, your car battery hooked up to a charger pack.

I advise you not to write this ECU obd safe method is to write in the boot with fgtech

thank you, than it will be fgtech or kess...but I am not happy, for every flash you need to open ecu

Use search button or google, you will find how to open ecu without damage It's not a hard work, only need some time and patience

galletto v54 is good for beginning, you will find it for about 50$, not a big deal

i never use obd r/w for edc17

You dont Need Open this Ecu you can Write with kess No problem. Galletto is Not so good it kills sometimes the eeprom.
I'm 100 % sure that work if Not i repair your Ecu for free

With the NOx update an such car TP is also not changed.
So i can write cars before 9/09 with NOx update also over OBD

Yes u can i have test many cars all Cars that have No tp get no tp with update

that is useful info can I get full backup over obd if something goes wrong or do I need to have backup from bootmode ?
