    Default ford fiesta eac fail

    hi i thought i would share something with you, i recently purchased a ford fiesta mk6 and after about a week of owning it, it developed a eac fail problem, loss of power, low throtle responce, wanting to stall. well after reading lots of forums it was looking like a very expensive fix and could be one of a number of problems, but i looked at a forum that had not got many members but it had a thread about the eac fail,. after reading the posts many of them was talking about what the other forum was talking about, it could be this or it could be that, but i read one post ( the only post i had read about this ) and he said have a look at the earth, its under the battery box. sometimes water can hold there and could corrode the earth. well i had a look and the earth connection and the holding bolt and it was corrode. i put a new connector on and sanded where the bolt would go, put a new bolt in. i put a good blob of grease over it and ive not had a problem in the 3 months since. thought i would shaire this with you as if you or someone you know has the same problem i mite be a good place to start.

    cool, the other thing to watch is breather hose between *think* inlet manifold and block ?5+vat - fords

    undo throttle motor laughing at you.

    word on the street is the washer jets leak and fill the sparkplug leads up with rain water.

    Sorry to drag this one out over a year later, Got here a 2002 Fiesta 14 about 6 months ago she called and said the engine was reving, I got to the car and the hose between block beather and manifold was split, car was idling 1700 ish. Went to fords they didnt have one, got a piece of same diameter hose pushed it on both ends car didnt idle, pulled it of the block beather end pushed in a plastic plug (what they use in a new wheel, cylinder to protect the thread) put a small hole in that, idle was about 650ish, to slow, made the hole bigger it was idling at 900ish, told her to use it for a few days untill the hose arrives at Fords. Fords called a few days later, hose there, called her, she said the car is fine leave it for now, shes been using the car for 6 months no problem with the hose i made, Had the car in for service (engine filters oil, plugs, discs and pads) yesterday and fitted the correct hose the car does idle now BUT when you start it (hot or cold engine) will cut out on the 1st start cause it cant maintain the correct idle speed, second turn of the key, no problem it idles fine and 3 times now she said the "ECA fail" has come up on the display, so WTF is going on here, as you guys in the UK work on Fords all day long maybe you can shed some light on it for me. Done a scan on it and its showing P1000 OBDII Drive Cycle, ive done the 14 ford recommended drive cycle steps and it wont go away. ~~~~~ing thing

    May bit of no use this info but i had a 1.4 53reg Fiesta That kept coming up with EAC fail then run in limp dick mode pull over turn ignition off then back on and run ok again. An ECU software upgrade was done and this solved problem. Oh an i nearly forgot. Had another one too and this was a loose earth which runs direct from the battery to the to off the gearbox.(Gearbox end)

    The EAC thing is very common mate google it and you will see what i mean.

    Cheers

    ~~~~ knows - but it's a shit hole is Meat-City. Folks that don't want to pay their bill, folks that cut you up in traffic.
    EVERY shortcut in the City is now blocked - then they wounder why traffic is so bad.
    Don't know now, but M-C was one of the worst polluted Citys once!
    Just for info:
    EAC fail warning on instruments of diesel Fiesta 2003ish and fault codes for frps is caused by the wiring chafing in the loom above the gearbox (usually to the fuel rail pressure sensor grounds out)
