Default Dodge Neon SKIM Philips EEPROM?

I am trying to read a dump from a U.S. spec 01+ Dodge Neon SKIM II module without luck. I was expecting to see a 46c family EEPROM based on posts but none of the SKIMs I have here have that. What I see is a Philips 8 leg EEPROM labeled 8613AA. Any ideas on whether this is correct??

And any recommendations on an EEPROM programmer that will work for it if so? I bought a cheap TL866 Plus, it doesn't show this chip and when I try to download the newest software from the website Windows deletes the software because it has a trojan in it... skim.jpg

Hi, you need UPA USB to read this MC68HC08AZ32

Ok, I finally got my UPA and have it setup. I soldered the leads onto this SKIM following the diagram above, does this look to be correct? Sorry this is my first time and I'm having a hard time finding any specific instructions for this specific SKIM. I have the RED, ORANGE, GREEN, BROWN, PURPLE wires connected to the PCB at the spots indicated. These should be the only ones needed?

On the other end I have them connected to pins 1,2,5,6,9 on the Adapter Type 12 board... is this correct?

In UPA-USB software I try to read MC68HC08AZ32, All Memory, Autobaud but get the following error:

    Frame Error

Reading: 1 Errors Found Device: MC68HC08AZ32 Range: 0 - FFFF

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Also, the unmarked WHITE connection in your diagram... is that supposed to be connected to something?

I read using orange5 with no issues. Maybe you can compare the way I read them with your own tool and the diagram the gentleman above posted. These are secured mcu's, I am not familiar with UPA to know if it does unsecures for you or bypasses you will need to read about it.

I was able to get it working finally! I had to attach another wire near where the white unmarked box is on the diagram above.

What is the likelihood someone has a virgin dump file for the TYPE 3 SKIM module? I didn't readily find one posted on here. I do have a brand new module that I can open and dump if I need to do so. Was hoping someone already did it though.

    Id say slim.
If you decide to read it the type 3s are slightly different

What I have new is the same part as what I read, which I believe to be SKIM 3 since it says "IMMOBILIZER 3" on it. I know I called it SKIM II originally since that is how the DRB3 shows it when I program them, so maybe I truly don't know what a SKIM 3 is. I've seen people refer to SKIM I, II, III, Pacifica, and SKREEM so I assume II and III are not the same. All a bit confusing though.

I think your safe to assume when someone says skim 2 then they are talking about "immobilizer 2" and skim 3 as "immobilizer 3" both of them will be listed the same under your scan tool as type 2.
    immobilizer 2 uses a hc08 : 0j66d
    immobilizer 3 uses a 908 : 0L72a
I don't know if they are compatible with each other or not. Easiest way to try is to add your vin number into one with hex editor then try to add key on bench or obd. test in car.

Great info! I will have to do some part number research to see if I can find out about compatibility and maybe give it a try. Once I find a good part number for a 2 and a 3 I can cross reference models that used them and try to see about interchange. It may be useful to know and try flashing on the bench. I assume 3 is also a PCI bus SKIM but I don't know that.

    sure they are pci.
CAN started with 04 durango keys stored in the 9s12 and 04 pacifica/vans storing in 95040/95080. after 2005 /6 all skims are can and key eeproms vary a bit, but honestly they are so easy to work with via obd Not much reason to take them apart.
