2008 isnt true smartkey. Best for them was Orange 10$ Toyota tool. Try to do it via regular 4d key.

Put key in slot and put Orange tool in obd without pressing anything. In 30s you should have immo resseted and first key learned. For remote find manual procedure it is somewhere here on dk.

    Remote manual process

Open driver's door The driver's door must be open and unlocked
    Key out of the slot
    1. Insert and remove the key from the slot switch 2 times within 5 seconds
    2. Close and open driver's door TWICE
    3. Insert the key into the slot and remove it
    4. Close and open the driver's door twice
    5. Insert the key into the slot
    6. Close the door
    7. Turn the engine switch ON and OFF within 1 second - do this once to ADD a remote and twice to rewrite remotes
    8. Remove the key from the slot
    9. To confirm programming mode, the power locks will now cycle "lock" to "unlock" once
Within 40 seconds of Door Lock confirmation:
    A. Press both transmitter Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously between 1 and 1.5 seconds and release.
    B. Within 3 seconds of step A press the transmitter Lock button for more than 1 second and release
    Open driver's door
