24c32 swap from cd30 mp3 to replacement cd30 mp3

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help shed some light on my problem.

I have a 2007 astra h with the grundig CD30 mp3 HU fitted with no Aux input and wanted to change this to a CD30 mp3 that has the Aux input.
So I obtained one off ebay that is the same grundig type that has the AUX input feature and according to the listing had been unpaired from its donor vehicle.

After some research at the time I found out that i needed to pair the replacement using the code from my car pass (which wasn't supplied when i bought the car) using either the Tech2 or the OPcomm
(which I have the Opcomm), anyway as i found out that getting the pass required going to the dealers and some messing around I put the project on hold.

Come to this past week I saw somewhere that if the units are the same make (and both are with the 24c32wp eeproms) then you should be able to swap the eeproms and it should work without any probs.
I did this and when i tried the replacement back in the car i got the beep and display saying "Radio Safe" (with much headscratching and still no AUX feature), so as an experiment i put the eeprom from the replacement unit into my orig unit and got the same result (which i expected anyway).

So as another test i returned both eeproms back to thier orig units and then put my orig HU back in and it worked again with no beep and message ( Did this thinking i may have damaged the eeproms during swapping), this is where i am at the moment.

Thus I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this as i've seen this work for someone on a thread here back in 2010?

Next plan is to try the eeprom decode method from its dump just waiting for a programmer to get delivered in the next couple of weeks maybe sooner.

You really shouldn't just swap eeproms, that's just madness....
Your pin is stored in your car's display, you'll need to post this along with your CD30mp3's eeprom dump for unregistering.

Thanks Guys will do as soon as my programmer arrives in the mean time i'll stick with my cruddy FM transmitter LOL.
