Thanks for replys Scotlock and P1et

Yes key had ID 48 chip in it but saying unlocked. Tried my key in with blank 48 started but cut out with immo flashing.

Vag Tacho said 2 keys programmed prior to me trying so 2 already in system.

Didn’t try cloning with KD or keytool as transponder open not locked just in case I wiped anything from original key.

Really strange one customer said they have owned car from new with no mods and full VW history???

    Really strange one this

Maybe it's just a mistake that it show that the chip is unlocked and maybe you should not care about this and just try to clone with KD-X2 but it's your decission. I heard couple of times that after trying to clone 48 chip, something got messed up in original chip that it's no longer start the car so it's not 100% safe I would say unless those people made human mistake but honestly there is nothing we can do wrong in cloning I think...

I made a copy of Fox ID48 using KeyLine 884 mini in 5 minutes - did not have KD-X2 back then so haven't chance to try but my friend did a copy also Fox later on with KD-X2 and everything was fine

    Thanks for info P1et 👍🏻

Too many tools read this as unlocked for it not to be. If locked would have tried cloning it. So walked way in case cloning would wipe logic from transponder on original key. With no file back up just didn’t want to risk it.

Just curious to see if anyone else has come across this before

I've read the pin on the VW Fox with I/O Terminal from the engine control module.

    Eeprom read through EOBD socket.

Well, no tool could do these by obd, thought.
At least not the European siemens.
And fvdi could do these, i am missing something here.
Now i know, atleast io terminal can do these.
I have some io terminal activated.
    Sadly not this one.

Thank you for sharing this, greetings Rob

Jimmy , just because its a 2007 car doesnt mean its been cracked , plenty of older cars still not possible by obd , volvo , old renault clio 2000 , pre 2001 polo , some 2001 golf with boo clocks , for instance the list goes on and on, plenty fail on old 2001 beetles etc , year of car bears no relevence to whether it can be done or not by obd or the complexity of reading the code , why because its older should it be easy ? maybe in an ideal world all cheap kit should read and code everything older than 5 years , but then we would become redundant as anyone could do it.

its just these type of throw away comments that used to wind me up when i did lishi demo , when some clown says why cant lishi pick and decode the VAC102 and HU87 door lock after all they are old cars now ? obviously asked by someone with no idea how the lock is constructed and the reason why it cant be picked by a lishi tool , it would be interesting if manufacturers realised that these clutched sidebar locks thwart lishi , if they made all locks this way in future the trade would become interesting on how many would stop trading .

    Hi Rapid

Thanks for your input always welcomed !

Wasn’t my intention to wind anyone up. Yes totally understand where your coming from some old systems are well designed like the ones you’ve mentioned and more. Just got frustrated yesterday.

Never crossed my mind the key might have been a clone exhausted everything yesterday and when Abrites wouldn’t pull the code 😬...............

Just as a matter of interest why do manufacturers change a system that’s hard to crack knowing it’s costing them money when they could be selling dealer only keys and keeping lockies out ?
