what model? id46 cas2 for example e60 you can clone. old key will work ok.
but ews type pcf7930/35 remember once I had e46 towed to me because one locksmith tried to clone it and after that original key stopped to start a car.

Thanks mate always looking quick solution but it’s not to be 😬
Also CAS1 you can clone, but CAS3 never tried beacause I always make remote key.

It doesn't matter CAS1 or CAS3 - all can be cloned, it's ID46 chip. Only CAS3+ you might fail to clone. But as for today there are many devices which can program fully working BMW remote/smart keys. Cloning was good option maybe 6 years ago when there were only very expensive tools for make OBD programming and not many wanted to eeprom them.

yup cas3 can be cloned , in fact both keyline and silca sell the pod keys to clone for use on their machines , but no remote functions just for starting car as emergency keys
Some bladed e series are manual remote programming so might be an option
Thanks everyone 👍🏻
E60/E61/E63/E64 Diamond key is not a manual remote programming...

If it's an ID46 then you can clone it and the original key will be fine. But I've yet to try and clone the push in the dash keys yet, purely for the fact noone has ever asked for one without remote on.
If it's an ID73 Key (BMW x5 old, E46 etc) then i've heard you run the risk of the old key not working when you clone because its a rolling code. Easiest way is to program a PCF7935 into the ews unit and code the remote manually.
