    Default "Clone" edc16c39?

    Nice simple one hopefully;

    I read my brother's Astra H (1.9cdti 150, 2006/7) with ktag, full backup. It's ran fine for a few days but now stopped and behaves a lot like the immobiliser is preventing him from starting the car. Obd says "no communication with ecm" and after a bit of reading online it seems the ecu has died. I've re-flowed the whole board and tried on the car again but still the same problem.

    I'd like to try a used ecu, if I get one from the same model/ year or possibly just same engine (vectra, zafira, signum) and year but still edc16c39, can I write the bdm backup to it and just plug and play? Or is there more I need to do?

    Ktag no problem to clone if bdm works.
    So get another edc16c39 with same bosch number and lets go.

    Thankyou, do you know anything about how to make sure I'm getting the right ecu to write to? The numbers on them vary quite a bit

    I do, it's 0 281 012 867 which, bosch website says is edc16c39 5.22 BUT 0 281 014451 also says 5.22

    Would both work? the second is quite a bit cheaper

    I've ordered the ecu with exact same numbers

    For future reference though, am I right in thinking as long as it was a Vauxhall/Saab/fiat edc16c39, about the same age - it would have worked fine?

    I think I found the answer to my last question; you need to use the Bosch website or one of the compatibility "app"s members have shared on here to find the version - in my case 5.22. And match that, so any opel/Saab etc edc16c39 5.22 ecu would have worked.

    The replacement arrived this morning, wrote the bdm to it and tested and, thankfully, the car's running again.

    Thankyou everyone who tried to help
