Default Mini R56 2008 - What do I need to program a new smart key?

    Hi,

    I bought a blank smart key from eBay, ID46 - PCF7952 868mhz. Trying to create a spare key for Mini R56 2008.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Button-Remote-Car-Auto-Flip-Key-868MHz-ID46-Chip-Fob-Fit-For-BMW-Mini-Cooper/362906561348?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid =p2060353.m2749.l2649

I am wondering what tool what I need to clone the original, as I don't have a spare.

I read that FVDI may do it? Then I get confused is the R56 CAS3 or CAS3+? And can FVDI do this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Well... if you don’t have equipment to code keys for Mini than best way eill be to get local locksmith to do it for you. Simply not worth to buy tools to do one car.

It's hard to find anyone to do it around my way, what I would do is buy the tool and then sell it on. I've found doing this before works out cheaper.

If is hard to find locksmith to program the key in your area try to imagine how hard will be to find someone to fix the car after your programming

He asked for a tool to do the job.
Because he doesn't know much about this job it's safer with this tool!
Also,to make him understand the cost we have to pay for the tools..

    Hello,
If you remove the cas3 yourself,
You will need a programmer to read data.
R270 from china is cheap, and works fine.

Then you still need to have a tool that writes the data in your new key.
    And Cut a key.

If you take all this effort, the risk, the time, the money.
Consider either find a locksmith that dares to to do this job by obd.
Or remove the the cas yourself and send it, to a locksmith, or a trusted D.K member in your country.

in fact chinese can't make trusted tool for CAS3+

Comizelu already told you what is the cheapest trusted tool that you can use for CAS3+

    Just an update.

    I bought a VVDI BMW.
The R56 mini was CAS3+ not encrypted so I didn't need to downgrade, so less risky.

    Added the key perfectly.

I don't envy those who do this for a living. High risk low reward.
